Kimitaka Matsumae

Hi, I'm Kimitaka Matsumae. I created and produced 'Collage Techno'. First, I'll start with my background.
I was born in Osaka... Oops, can you blame me for writing that? For a biography and the latest information, please visit my website. Now, about the song.

First, regarding the name "Collage Techno." There isn't really anything like that, it's just what I tried to call my own musical style.
The collage method, or what they used to call "musique concrète," is where you create sound effects and rhythms by stitching together open-reel tapes. In the popular world, similar sound effect rhythms were implemented by Perry and Kingsley, who were famous for their song used in Disneyland's Electrical Parade.

Thanks to developments in sampling technology, these methods became very easy. In my normal work, I use anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand elements. In order for the track to suit the game this time, however, I used fewer sound effects, but combined them in numerous ways.
Depending on the types of elements, I could've made the song either serious or comical. If I went with comical though, it wouldn't have rivaled with DJ BATTLE's best gags, so this time I made the song serious, focusing on somewhat hard sounds. If I get another chance, I'd like to try my hand at a "comical" collage, too.
