Rie Aono was born in Himi City, Toyama Prefecture. She debuted in 1996 as a member of the gospel chorus group ''VOJA'' led by Yuka Kamebuchi, and has also performed with Akiko Wada and Ken Hirai, appearing in various live performances, TV shows, and commercials.
