Release Information

  • Release date: March 27th, 2000
  • Slogan: FUTURE ROMANTIC ハジマル! (FUTURE ROMANTIC hajimaru!)

General Information / Changes

  • The only returning songs are the KONAMI originals from beatmania completeMIX 2.
    • All of completeMIX 2's HARD charts became NORMAL charts, and the ANOTHER charts became HARD charts, aside from 321 STARS.
  • None of beatmania ClubMIX's licenses ever appeared in the beatmania III series.
  • None of beatmania ClubMIX's songs have their ANOTHER charts rated, despite being released after completeMIX 2, which was the first game to do so.
  • The BM-II DOUBLE modifier is not present in this game, despite being released after completeMIX 2, where the modifier was first introduced.
  • Last beatmania game that allows you to continue after failing a stage in EXPERT while playing DOUBLE mode.
    • Starting in DREAMS COME TRUE and through the rest of the games, you cannot continue after failing in EXPERT while playing any mode.

Songs With Default Scroll Speed Multipliers

  • Some songs in this game have a scroll speed multiplier applied to them by default when playing certain charts.
    • In other words, on such charts, the in-game BPM is higher than the displayed BPM, and thus the chart scrolls faster than the displayed BPM would imply.
    • When a HI-SPEED option is used on such a chart, that HI-SPEED's multiplier will stack (multiply) with that chart's default scroll speed multiplier.
  • Songs that have such charts, as well as other relevant information, are shown in the table below (for all games and applicable songs, see here).

  • If the options menu is already opened, you must leave the title screen before the game allows you to enter the unlock code.
  1. Press and hold 2+4 (both black keys on 1P side).
  2. While continuing to hold 2+4, press keys 9-9-3 (right black button on 2P side and middle white button on 1P side).
  • The title screen will flash white and the background color will turn gray.
    • The unlocked state will not save between games, and the code must be entered each time before the game is started.

Select Options

  • To select options, do so via the method below.
  • Available options will differ according whether Event Mode is enabled.
Title Screen
  • While the screen says to press either START button, press the EFFECT button, then press the corresponding key button(s) shown on screen.
    • Available options: BATTLE; MIRROR/RANDOM; DOUBLE; HI-SPEED 1/2/3; HIDDEN/SUDDEN/HIDDEN+SUDDEN
  • This method is not available while Event Mode is enabled.

Select ANOTHER Difficulty Charts

  • To change between MANIAC/ANOTHER difficulty charts on the song select screen in MANIAC mode (does not work in NORMAL mode), press and hold the EFFECT button, then press 2+4 (both black key buttons on the 1P side).
    • Default: MANIAC (record player's lever is diagonal)
    • One: ANOTHER (record player's lever is down)
    • Two: (Return to Default)

Select TOKIO

  • On the song select screen in NORMAL or MANIAC mode, highlight the song TOKYO EUROPEAN ESPRESSO, then press and hold the EFFECT button and then press 2+4 (both black key buttons on the 1P side).

Event Mode

Selecting Mode During Event Mode
  • When Event Mode is enabled, there are several differences in making selections, which are as follows.
    • The options menu cannot be shown on the title screen, preventing selection of options from there.
      • As such, there is no known way to select options while Event Mode is enabled.
    • The PLAY STYLE SELECT menu is skipped, preventing selection of game mode.
    • Song selection is performed with the START button(s), instead of a white or black key button (1/2/3/4/5 or 6/7/8/9/10).
      • As such, the EFFECT button does not need to be held down while pressing 2+4 in order to change to an ANOTHER chart (or to the song TOKIO).
    • To make each selection, follow the procedures below on the song select screen.
  • Select Mode
    • Press the following button(s).
      • 1P START: SINGLE
      • 2P START: DOUBLE
      • 1P+2P START: BATTLE
        • Two-player non-BATTLE mode (DOUBLE chart with two lifebars) cannot be specifically selected while in Event Mode.
          • However, if a chart says that BATTLE cannot be played and BATTLE is selected anyway, it will play two-player non-BATTLE mode (DOUBLE chart with two lifebars).
