Sound directors are those in charge of deciding what music to put in each BEMANI game; L.E.D., the main current sound director of the beatmania IIDX series, usually tells each individual artist what kinds of songs that he would like to have made for each new beatmania IIDX game. Sound directors try to strike a delicate balance between new, interesting musical styles, and "tried and true" styles that each artist might be more used to.
