A musical phrase that occurred to me while strolling down the sparkling streets of Vienna at the end of the century is now resurrected now in Tokyo. It's full of a romanticism that scatters about, chilling me to the bone with excitement. Though the signature goes to 6/8 thanks to the jazz and swing elements I used as a base, this song is really a waltz at its core. It becomes a triumphant(?) fugue in the middle, but at the end its passion returns with a fury than no-one can withstand!

Vienna, the capital of Austria, has lent its name to this song. Unfortunately, I've never been to Vienna, so I could only assemble indirect material for a movie. I remember talking to [[Takayuki Ishikawa|dj TAKA]] a lot, trying to figure out what I should do. Since the name of the song was a name of an actual place, I felt that I should try to find some fitting scenery images. When I gave it some more thought, I realized it might be better to assemble something that captured the spirit of Vienna in a less direct fashion. Struggling along with thoughts of what sort of things wouldn't express the changes in spirit that define this city, I had the idea of replacing the concept of "the soul" with water to take advantage of its constant motion to convey these ideas. I experimented using various processes to align this abstract form with the spirit of the song. I'm very pleased with the form of presentation that opened up this new circumstance, and I think the result was magnificent. I think it would be good to play this song surrendering your body to the light and sound.
This song title is Vienna, named after the capital city of Austria.
Since the place's name was used as the title, I thought I could spell it on suitable scenery, but when I carefully listened, the movements were from the inner mind instead of scenery, so I thought of the idea to show the changing expressions of the mind, such as "modulations" and "tempo", and replaced mind with "water", which I just tried to match the movements with this song in an abstract form by processing it various times.
This is an ambitious video which I quite love, and revealed a new frontier from its expressions.
I hope you'll enjoy playing it, as if you lost yourself to the city's sounds and lights.

Song Production Information

Osamu Kubota

A phrase came to my mind when I was walking through Vienna last year, a city that shines at the end of the century, has now been revived in Tokyo.
It's a speedy and chilling romanticism.
Although it's in a 6-beat time signature based on swing jazz, the essence of this song is waltz.
It becomes my specialty(?) austere fugue in the middle section, but no one can withstand my passion in the last section!

Video Production Information

VJ GYO

This song title is Vienna, named after the capital city of Austria.
I only have indirect knowledge of this place through various media, and I couldn't find anything around me to use as movie materials, so I remember discussing with dj TAKA about what to do.
