A list of planets are shown to the player, each representing a song. When a song is played under GALAXY STAGE, a special FLARE LIFE GAUGE (a non-recovery LIFE GAUGE with penalties for steps below PERFECTs) is forced starting at Level V, and relaxes by one level for every failed attempt (though the same level can be attempted again). If the song is cleared, the song is unlocked for regular play, along with an emblem for the highest FLARE level cleared by the player; individual difficulties and play styles (Single or Double) have to be unlocked one at a time.

Unlocking all the non-BEGINNER charts for all of the songs will reveal its CHALLENGE chart for the last three songs.
