General Information / Changes
- Theme: music library
- There are also various UI references to digital archives and databases.
- This version's STEP UP mode is themed around the player's Q-Pro being transported into various fairy tale books.
- Slogan: "ギラつく音で 超えて行け!" (Giratsuku oto de koeteike!) (lit. Go over with glaring sounds!)
- The title is derived from beatmania IIDX's spin-off audio drama series ROOTS26S[suite]. "ROOTS26" itself is the name of Shem's apparel shop in the audio drama.
- HI-SPEED has been revised. There are 10 HI-SPEED settings, and the chart will now scroll at the same speed on a given HI-SPEED setting regardless of the song BPM. This is similar to REGUL-SPEED, but BPM changes will still affect the scroll speed.
- You can also now preview the scroll speed before/during a song.
- HI-SPEED can now be set in BEGINNER.
- QR codes can now be scanned with the built-in cameras.
- You can now share playlists with other players using QR codes.
- Top scorer is now shown on the song select screen, but it must be enabled via the eamusement page.
- A new feature - Tsujigiri Battle, will show each of the store players as you beat their EX scores above the score graph. This was forced on during the location test, but must be enabled in the options menu in the released game.
- A new RIVAL NEXT graph option has been added, which sets the pacemaker to the score of the rival above yours.
- Result screens can now cycle between:
- The usual score graph;
- A diagram displaying individual key accuracy during the song;
- A graph showing predicted final score grades for particular points in the song.
- First beatmania IIDX arcade game since beatmania IIDX 14 GOLD to feature licensed covers made by in-house BEMANI staff.
- EXTRA STAGE rotation is back to being done every five weeks, as opposed to the six week standard that had been in place since beatmania IIDX 23 copula.
- First beatmania IIDX arcade game with BGM in the Result screen since beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA.
- First beatmania IIDX game with new BEGINNER charts since copula.
- First game since SPADA with new BEGINNER charts for songs in the default song list as well.
- Green number now displays the minimum/current/maximum BPM changes for a song if it has BPM changes.
- Ghost Score numbers can now be set to white only for being below a target score. In previous games, it was always red.
- Pressing 0 on the numpad on the game over screen now brings up legal info, which is displayed on screen for 60 seconds.
- A new feature now lets you see which column that the first note will appear in (or columns, if there is a simultaneous press for the first notes) when you begin a song, similar to jubeat.
- In-game currency is called "BIBL".
- Purchaseable currency is referred to as Origin Bookmarks.
- Origin Bookmark sales ended on October 6th, 2019.
- First beatmania IIDX game since their debuts with no songs from MK, ni-21, or P*Light.
- First beatmania IIDX game since her debut with no Mayumi Morinaga songs on the default song list.
- First beatmania IIDX arcade game since Sota Fujimori's debut where he has no songs under his real name on the default song list.
- The 5KEY option and all ASSIST combination modifiers containing it have been removed, making Rootage the first beatmania game of any kind since beatmania打打打!! with no 5-key mode.
- Kanji mode labels return since beatmania IIDX 24 SINOBUZ. ARENA and TIME HELL modes were given the kanjis of 闘 and 極, respectively.
- The kanji for TIME HELL was changed to 獄 in the next installment.
- The EX-COMBO display option has been removed.
- The HD* monitor setting has been removed, causing machines that used it previously to have their offset increased by +1.0.
- HELL CHARGE NOTES can now be set to the same color as regular CHARGE NOTES.
- All unlocks from beatmania IIDX 24 SINOBUZ (except for Surf on the Light) are now available by default.
- FLOOR INFECTION part 15 songs (Discloze and Invitation from Mr.C) are also playable by default.
- Rootage's system voice is provided by Sousuke Asagi and Chiyoko.
- Both of the system voices rotate daily with Asagi voicing on odd-numbered days, and Chiyoko on even-numbered days.
- The UI for the gameplay screen and the background music for the Select Music screen can be chosen via ARC SCORE.
- First beatmania IIDX game since beatmania IIDX 22 PENDUAL with unlockable game frames and BGMs.
- STEP-UP mode has new additions:

- The Korean version received a more complete translation on September 2nd, 2019, making this the first beatmania IIDX game to be in a language other than Japanese since beatmania IIDX tricoro 狂热节拍IIDX2.
- In-house graphic designers are once again credited for their overlays/videos on the official website, now under the "BEMANI Designers" tag.
- The default system BGM is composed by HuΣeR.
- First arcade beatmania IIDX entry to reach one hundred new songs added.
- New song titles return to the traditional blue colored text.
- First beatmania IIDX game since beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA to not feature Expert Mode.
- First beatmania IIDX game since beatmania IIDX 19 Lincle to be playable without an e-amusement connection, though it requires the purchase of an offline kit from KONAMI.
- The machines with an offline kit are denoted with game version "LDJ:J:C:A:2019111401", as opposed to "LDJ:J:B:A:2019******" for non-offline kit installed machines.
- e-amusement support for beatmania IIDX 26 Rootage ended on January 14th, 2020.

ARC SCORE
ARC SCORE is beatmania IIDX 26 Rootage's EXTRA STAGE system. For Japanese version machines, this only appears on PREMIUM START (which requires PASELI). The event began on November 22nd, 2018.
ARC SCORE can be considered a spiritual successor to PARALLEL ROTATION from beatmania IIDX 17 SIRIUS, with songs based around an older style. As is usual for EXTRA STAGE events, what songs you are allowed to play are based around the sum of the difficulty levels, DJ LEVEL and clear type of the first three songs of your credit.
The conditions to access ARC SCORE change based on the Phase it is in:
Phase | NORMAL | HYPER | ANOTHER | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Total Level | DJ LEVEL | Clear Lamp | Total Level | DJ LEVEL | Clear Lamp | Total Level | DJ LEVEL | Clear Lamp | |
Phase 1 | 18 | A or better | EX-HARD CLEAR or better | 27 | AA or better | EX-HARD CLEAR or better | 33 | AAA | EX-HARD CLEAR or better |
Phase 2 | 15 | B or better | HARD CLEAR or better | 24 | A or better | HARD CLEAR or better | 30 | AA or better | HARD CLEAR or better |
Phase 3 | 12 | C or better | HARD CLEAR or better | 21 | B or better | HARD CLEAR or better | 27 | AA or better | HARD CLEAR or better |
If RANDOM is used, all three songs must be cleared with a rank on AAA and an EX-HARD CLEAR or better, regardless of phase (except for difficulty level requirements). |
As an additional requirement, the song played on the FINAL STAGE must be from the style the song is related to. (The exception to this is the final song, which can only be accessed by playing other songs from ARC SCORE for the FINAL STAGE.) The following styles and its respective songs are:
Style | Song | Date debut |
---|---|---|
8th style | XENON II ~TOMOYUKIの野望~ | November 22nd, 2018 |
GOLD | 金野火織の金色提言 | December 27th, 2018 |
SIRIUS | Red. by Jack Trance | January 31st, 2019 |
Lincle | 抱きしめてモナムール | February 28th, 2019 |
EMPRESS | & Intelligence | April 11th, 2019 |
SPADA | ONIGOROSHI | May 23rd, 2019 |
3rd style | COSMIC CYBER | June 27th, 2019 |
HAPPY SKY | GENE | August 1st, 2019 |
Final | GO OVER WITH GLARE -ROOTAGE 26- | September 5th, 2019 |
When a song is unlocked for play, the stage select BGM is changed to the corresponding style's, and that style's play frame is used when playing the song (For styles prior to tricoro, frames have been remastered to HD and BGMs have been remixed to be layered).
Every time a song is cleared as the EXTRA STAGE, you get one ARC Element for it, which is used to unlock its charts outside the EXTRA STAGE as well as its frame and BGM. Obtaining one, three and five ARC Elements respectively unlocks the NORMAL, HYPER and ANOTHER charts, and 10 ARC Elements unlock its frame and BGM customization items.
Obtaining ten ARC Elements each for every single ARC SCORE song rewards a Platinum Tran Medal.

The Bibliotheca of Mirage (蜃気楼の図書館)
The Bibliotheca of Mirage (蜃気楼の図書館) is the first unlock event of beatmania IIDX 26 Rootage. It began on December 20th, 2018 and ended on May 6th, 2019. e-amusement is required to play the event, and will only appear if one player is playing.
At the start of each credit, the player receives an item called a fragment. Up to seven fragments can be held at any given time, and an extra fragment is given for using a DJ VIP PASS BLACK. After the results of your final song in a credit, the game transitions to the event screen, where Ripunte (リプンテ) and Stampa (スタンパ) make their introductions. Following that, the player is given the ability to select from any of the libraries currently available. Once a library is selected, all fragments that are currently in possession are consumed.
The aim of the event is to use magic power (解放魔力), represented in the form of a numerical value below the player's Q-pro, to clear the mist out of the libraries. To collect magic power, the player must answer various trivia questions relating to beatmania IIDX. These questions can range from identifying song titles or genres, songs specific to certain styles/events, characters that appear in various background videos/overlays, and so on. The turntable is used to scroll between answers, with the white keys being used to select an answer. The number of questions varies depending on the amount of fragments, and each question is given a time limit of 20 seconds. Correct answers will reward 50 points of magic power, while incorrect answers will only offer 30.
By filling up certain gauges, the player can also use Assist Spells to help with answering questions. These come in the form of three options:
- Transformation Spell (変化魔法): replaces the question currently displayed with another one. Can be used by pressing the left black key when the orange gauge is full.
- Investigation Spell (探索魔法): displays the percentage ratio of votes from all players. Can be used by pressing the middle black key when the blue gauge is full.
- Sealing Spell (封印魔法): one incorrect answer will be eliminated. Can be used by pressing the right black key when the purple gauge is full.
Once all questions are completed, a map of the library is displayed. The magic power earned is used to clear the mist from bookshelves. The amount of magic power required varies depending on the size of the bookshelf. By clearing out certain bookshelves, the player can unlock charts for new songs, or earn additional BIBL.
Upon completely clearing out all of the mist in each library, the final song of that respective library will be unlocked, and the player will be rewarded a Gold Tran Medal.
The fourth and final library, containing the song Carmina, can only be unlocked after all previous libraries are unlocked.
Unlocking Carmina ends the event and nets you a Platinum Tran Medal.

DELABITY LABORATORY
DELABITY LABORATORY is beatmania IIDX 26's Rootage second unlock event, which began on May 9th, 2019. The theme of the event is researching books and conducting experiments to create new music. e-amusement is required to play the event, and will only appear if one player is playing.
DELABITY LABORATORY is functionally similar to the Ninnin shichikenden (忍々七鍵伝) event from beatmania IIDX 24 SINOBUZ, albeit with some slight changes. It can be accessed in STANDARD mode, where it appears as a special folder that can be accessed on any stage. It can only be accessed once per credit; once the player has confirmed access, they cannot return to the regular song selection screen for that stage. The ability to switch between SINGLE and DOUBLE play is disabled, but level and difficulty restrictions are lifted.
Upon selecting the folder, the player must then enter a FLOOR where they are given a handful of books to research. Each book comes with its own "review" that ties in with the unlock in question. The books are split into three parts for each of the songs' difficulties and are selected using the VEFX button. Once a chart has been picked for unlock, the player given a small selection of songs to choose from. Songs that are tied to the book review and unlockable song are marked with ^s on the song wheel. Playing these songs can increase the progress of experiments.
The unlocks are as follows, along with the book review listed for them:

Completely filling the gauge will unlock the chart for that respective book's song; any additional DELABITY carries to the next unlock.
Once the experiment is finished, the player will return to STANDARD mode play for the rest of the credit (unless the event folder was accessed on FINAL STAGE, EXTRA STAGE, or ARC SCORE, or if the song was failed).
If playing a mode other than STANDARD (one player only), playing songs will increase a special リブレスプリー meter, which will make research more effective. This will be consumed the next time the player enters the event folder.
Unlocking all 16 songs ends the event and also nets you a Platinum Tran Medal.

WEEKLY RANKING
The WEEKLY RANKING feature in beatmania IIDX 26 Rootage began on November 28th, 2018. The WEEKLY RANKING song changes every Wednesday at 12:00 noon.
You earn a star (the day after the period for a song ends) if your score in the leaderboards for the featured song's chart is high enough. Note that stars depend on each song's chart on both single and double play, not on the whole song itself, which means you can earn up to six stars per song.
In the songlist menu, a bar shows your WEEKLY RANKING star progress on the featured song's chart; the arrow determines your current position in the leaderboards:
- White star: if the arrow is located in the white section.
- Bronze star: if the arrow is located in the cyan section.
- Silver star: if the arrow is located in the gray section.
- Gold star: if the arrow is located in the yellow section.
- Platinum star: if the arrow is located in the very small blue section (top 10 in the leaderboards).
