Release Information

  • Release date: February 25th, 2000

General Information / Changes

  • First style to feature LIGHT charts. Not every song has them, though.
    • As such, LIGHT MODE is added to the mode select. (Songs that don't have LIGHT charts play their 7/14KEYS chart instead.)
  • First style with EXTRA STAGE.
  • First style with FREE mode.
  • First style with the SUDDEN modifier.
  • All the menus have new music composed by dj TAKA. This music would also be used in beatmania IIDX 4th style.
  • Any videos reusing animations from beatmania have been removed and replaced with generic beatmania IIDX videos.
  • All songs now use a brand-new font design on the title cards, as opposed to the classic beatmania font used in the first three games. This font would be used until beatmania IIDX 6th style.
