General Information / Changes
- HELLO! POP'N MUSIC is a spin-off game of the pop'n music series aimed for casual players.
- Instead of nine buttons, HELLO! POP'N MUSIC only uses four buttons during gameplay: red, blue, yellow, and green. Two additional white buttons are only used during the character/song selection screens.
- HELLO! POP'N MUSIC supports up to two players, with each player having their respective four buttons.
- Additionally, a Double play mode (named WP Mode) is available for one player by inserting two credits.
- Songs have three difficulties: Easy (かんたん), Normal (ふつう), and Hard (むずかしい). However, there are no difficulty ratings, and their BPMs are not shown.
- Easy and Normal charts in WP Mode are based on their single play counterparts, with the 1P side using the regular chart while the 2P using a mirrored version of it. WP Hard charts however, are brand-new.
- Songs are not keysounded. Failing to press a note will instead decrease the volume of the song until the next note.
- Two new note types are introduced: a yellow, long "continuous pop-kun" which has to be hit as many times as the number of smaller pop-kuns that are contained on it, and a "rainbow pop-kun", where the player has to press all four buttons.
- Unlike the main series, the Groove Gauge fills with points by correctly pressing notes and it never decreases. 700,000 out of 1,000,000 points are required to clear a song.
- An American version of HELLO! POP'N MUSIC, simply titled POP'N MUSIC, was location tested but never released to the general public.
- eAMUSEMENT support for HELLO! POP'N MUSIC ended on February 4th, 2016.
