Trivia
* SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY is Kiyotaka Sugimoto's first original song in beatmania IIDX.
* At the time of its release, SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY went up to the highest BPM of any song in beatmania IIDX. This would not be topped until beatmania IIDX 5th style, when tablets' ANOTHER chart would go up to 360 BPM.
* SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY is notable for its BPM changes, which led Japanese players to create the term "soflan" (ソフラン, sofuran) to denominate when a song has sudden big BPM changes.
** According to Kiyotaka Sugimoto, the change to 318 BPM was a bug, as changing the time signature of the chart to 7/8 unintentionally resulted in a doubling of play speed. This was not fixed when the game was released .
** Kiyotaka himself also referenced SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY's BPM changes on the title of Do you love me? ~SOFT LANDING MIX~, from beatmania completeMIX 2.
** PON referenced this term in the pop'n music 20 fantasia staff comments for KIMONO♥PRINCESS.
** This term is also referenced in the title of 混乱少女♥そふらんちゃん!! (Konran shoujo Soflan-chan!!), which is reported by its composer かめりあ to have over 100 BPM changes.
** SOF-LAN is then officially used in the beatmania IIDX series starting in beatmania IIDX 27 HEROIC VERSE as part of the parameters in the Notes Radar, denoting the amount or severity of BPM changes in a song.
* SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY's title is a reference to PIZZICATO FIVE's SOFT LANDING ON THE MOON album .
* SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY received LIGHT charts in beatmania IIDX 3rd style.
* In beatmania IIDX 3rd style and beatmania IIDX 4th style, SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY's BPM was shown as 79-318. This was fixed when the song was revived in beatmania IIDX 6th style.
** In beatmania IIDX 2nd style, when SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY's BPM changes to 318, the BPM is still shown as 159. This was fixed in beatmania IIDX 3rd style CS, and later in the arcade titles in beatmania IIDX 6th style.
* Unused sound data for SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY can be found in the beatmania IIDX 20 tricoro data.

Commentary by dj TAKA:

I got comments from DJ SIMON for this song.

"With a flowing drum'n'bass rhythm, polished piano riffs, and listless female vocals all intertwined, it's kind of strange and has a mysterious feel to it. Since it's blessed with the genre 'spiritual', I tried to make it the best 'spiritual' game song I could. It's not an accident, so play it with peace of mind."
"The flowing drum'n'bass rhythm, sophisticated piano riffs, and muggy female vocals are all intertwined, creating a song with a somewhat mysterious and mystical tone.
In keeping with a genre called 'spiritual', I tried to give it a 'spiritual' gameplay gimmick.
It's not a mistake, so please play it with peace of mind."

Hmm. Anyway, we've pulled a new trick or two to use on this song, so everyone play it!
That's right, anyways, there is a new gimmick that has never been seen before, so everyone please play it!

As a new genre categorized as "spiritual", this song seems to be 2nd style's most controversial work, with a mysterious and uneasy image, and its extreme tempo changes.
I wanted to do an original movie for this song, but unfortunately, due to various reasons, it was shelved.
But, this movie is also good, right?
Well, GOLI prepared some exclusive animations.
Since it's a spiritual song, GOLI had a lot of trouble coming up with a good idea as expected, so he sent me a rough sketch (or rather a doodle) of a female vocalist that shouts "OH! Yeah!" throughout the song, who was large, intense, and filled with maturity.
But the result was... (Let's actually play and see it)

It looks like "spiritual" is a new genre for us. There's something suspicious about the great change in tempo, and a sort of melancholy image pervades the song. It's the most "problematic" song for 2nd style in terms of production. We really wanted to do an original video for this song, but this was never realized due to certain circumstances. Still, I even like this video. GOLI put some animations together especially for this song. Since it was a spiritual song, GOLI put lots of work into coming up with a good idea. He ended up giving me a rough sketch (almost a doodle) of a woman like the one that shouts "OH! Yeah!" throughout the song, brimming with a certain appealing maturity. However ... (Let's try playing it now.)
