General Information / Changes

  • First GuitarFreaks & DrumMania game to use the EXTRA RUSH unlocking system.
  • Yasuhiro Taguchi, Daisuke Kurosawa, and Jin Senbonmatsu all make their BEMANI series debut in this game.
  • Final appearance of NONSTOP mode in GuitarFreaks & DrumMania.
  • Interface with outer space and digital numbers.
  • V3 contains the most difficulty level changes in the classic GuitarFreaks & DrumMania series.
  • First GuitarFreaks & DrumMania game with Radar Chart, fulfilling a similar purpose of the GROOVE RADAR in the DanceDanceRevolution series. Used until V8. Its six parameters are, in clockwise order:
    • Average density: average density of notes in a chart.
    • Danger: number or average amount of irregular note patterns and gimmicks such as tempo changes.
    • Speed strum (GuitarFreaks only): average speed during picking.
    • Trill (DrumMania only): average trill intensity.
    • Alter (GuitarFreaks only): average up/down picking and wailing.
    • Bass (DrumMania only): number of or frequency of bass drum notes.
    • Technical: number of technical-based movements.
    • Peak: overall highest peak density in a chart section.
  • System BGM is composed by Jin Senbonmatsu.
  • First GuitarFreaks & DrumMania game to use e-AMUSEMENT PASSes instead of game-specific Entry Cards. This also means you can store play data for GuitarFreaks and DrumMania on the same card.
  • e-AMUSEMENT support for GuitarFreaks V3 & DrumMania V3 ended on September 28th, 2007.

EXTRA STAGE

Since GuitarFreaks V & DrumMania V, the EXTRA STAGE system works the same way, see this page for the requirements.

V3 introduced EXTRA RUSH, a brand new EXTRA STAGE unlocking system. This new system saw songs gradually added to the system while older songs are either moved to the EXTRA STAGE or unlocked by default when EXTRA RUSH LEVEL (EXTRA LV) was increased. Similar to the past EXTRA STAGE systems, you need to obtain either 93% (if playing on Drums) or 95% (if playing on Guitar) of PERFECTs on an EXTRA STAGE-specific song (marked by red-text on the song wheel) without using any AUTO modifiers, on any difficulty. The PREMIUM ENCORE STAGE also returned on EXTRA LEVEL 5, which serves as the event's final unlock, and requires at least 96% (Drums) or 98% (Guitar) PERFECTs to access it.

Note that in the case of MODEL FT2 Miracle Version, available starting on EXTRA LEVEL 6, only the EXTREME chart is available; if played on BASIC or ADVANCED, the player will play the ENCORE STAGE song MODEL FT2 instead, even though they met the percentage criteria required to access PREMIUM ENCORE STAGE.

New to this game, each EXTRA LV reduce the % of Perfects required in order to unlock the song into Standard play. The % in the table below refers to the % of Perfects needed in GuitarFreaks and that number minus 2% for DrumMania on the specified song. No AUTO modifiers can be used to unlock the song in Standard Mode.
