Similar to [[AC DistorteD|beatmania IIDX 13 DistorteD]]'s CARDINAL GATE system, upon accessing the Boss Select screen, one of several "bosses" may be selected. Difficulties are marked on the Boss Select screen as Roman numerals. Upon selecting the song, the splash screen will display the boss name over an obscured song title.
