      • International release (iTunes): 3/6/2013

General Information

  • First beatmania IIDX game with HD graphics.
  • Gameplay interface is overhauled.
    • First beatmania IIDX game to have the video window be in 4:3 aspect ratio.
  • Changes to the results screen:
    • Results screen pics return.
    • Total Notes information no longer on song results screens.
    • Music now plays on result screens.
    • The difficulty and level of the song you just played are displayed.
  • New songs have black backgrounds with yellow text. This is the first beatmania IIDX game since beatmania IIDX 4th style in which a game's new songs have black backgrounds, and the first in the series with colored text.
  • This is the first beatmania IIDX arcade game since their debuts in which TOMOSUKE, Seiya Murai, S.S.D., DJ Mass MAD Izm*, DJ Command and PRASTIK DANCEFLOOR don't appear on the default songlist.
  • Make A Difference, SABER WING, sakura storm, and Sweet Sweet ♥ Magic now have their dedicated videos from DanceDanceRevolution.
  • Modifier selection is overhauled:
    • The beginner option screen is offered by default; only "assist" modifiers can be selected on this screen (EASY, 5KEYS, AUTO SCRATCH, and LEGACY NOTE).
    • A more traditional modifier screen is also available; modifier categories have been reorganized so there are now four (STYLE, GAUGE, ASSIST, and RANGE), the first three of which can be cycled up and down by using the top and bottom key rows respectively.
    • A new options screen is introduced for selecting a ghost type, and options previously only accessible through codes (JUDGE among others).
    • You can cycle through these options screens with the Effect Change and VEFX buttons.
  • HI-SPEED is overhauled:
    • HI-SPEED can now only be changed by holding Start in-game; it is no longer available from the modifier screen.
    • The HI-SPEED range is now 0.5 to 10.0, and values now correspond to the speed multiplier applied to chart, meaning HS 1.0 is equivalent to no HS on previous IIDX versions. (Multiplier values for HS mods in previous versions can be found here.)
    • With Floating HI-SPEED enabled (by pressing the Effects button), you can set HI-SPEED with the turntable in .01 increments from 0.5 to 10.0. Doing so in conjunction with an active SUDDEN+ will cause the lane cover to adjust in order to maintain the current green number.
    • With Floating HI-SPEED disabled, you can increase and decrease HI-SPEED by .25 increments with the black and white keys respectively within the same range.
    • This is the first release since CS 6th style to feature LOW-SPEED (by using a HI-SPEED value under 1.0).
  • You can now switch the score graph and movie's locations by pressing the Start button on the side opposite the one you are playing on.
  • Players can now see how they rank on a specific song against other players in the same arcade.
  • The default Extra Stage is now called LIMIT BURST. The first LIMIT BURST song, Sol Cosine Job 2, is an original song for IIDX, while other LIMIT BURST songs are crossovers from other BEMANI games - songs that were never crossovered before, with high-end charts in their respective origin games.
  • First beatmania IIDX game with no Expert Mode.
  • Various older songs had their overlays removed from their videos due to the overhauled interface. Full list here.
  • There will be 3 special events based on the three colors of tricoro (red, yellow and blue). The color of the user interface will also change accordingly.
    • LEGEND CROSS (tricoro / RED): 10/10/2012 - 12/05/2012
    • Ω-ATTACK (tricoro / BLUE): 12/12/2012 - 03/20/2013
    • ぼくらの宇宙戦争 (tricoro / YELLOW): started on 03/21/2013, ongoing
  • The Vol.1 soundtrack is the first beatmania IIDX soundtrack to receive a release outside of Japan.
    • Some of the tracks on the international version of the soundtrack are tagged differently from their counterparts in the Japanese version.

Unlock Information

Extra Stage

Normal Extra Stage

In Standard Mode, during your final stage, the following conditions will allow you to access the Extra Stage:

  • obtaining a perfect combo
  • obtaining a full combo on a 5 or greater on Single Play or a 4 or greater on Double Play
  • finishing with 100% gauge on a 7 or greater on Single Play or a 6 or greater on Double Play
  • clearing an 8 or greater on Single Play or a 7 or greater on Double Play

What happens during your first two stages has no influence on whether or not a normal extra stage is attainable, so you could, for example, fail the first two stages with a DJ VIP Pass and still obtain an Extra Stage as long as you met the conditions on the final stage.

  • However, failing any stage will prevent any LIMIT BURST songs from appearing, even if you have met the requirements for that song.

02/18/2013 UPDATE: To unlock the charts of the LIMIT BURST songs in STANDARD mode, you need to buy Devil Cards and Angel Cards using Dellars. If you played them as LIMIT BURST Extra Stages, you can unlock them by using Devil Cards; otherwise, you have to use the more expensive Angel Cards.
Cards for LIMIT BURST songs are currently being released gradually (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday).

CS Revival Unlocks

As of 12/06/2012, Time to Empress and mnemoniq are automatically unlocked in STANDARD mode.

Ω-ATTACK (tricoro / BLUE)

The Ω-ATTACK unlock system, introduced on December 12th, 2012, is an after-play mini-game that involves clearing viruses in the network.
The last day of the Ω-ATTACK event (tricoro / BLUE) was on March 20th, 2013. Ω-ATTACK has ended.
For every play of beatmania IIDX, regardless of the mode chosen or if you clear a stage or not, CP is awarded. You use CP to purchase weapons to clear the viruses. As you clear more of the viruses, you unlock song charts, unlock new weapons, and upgrade your code level to earn more CP per play. Some tiles also require more hits to clear (for example, Level 2 tiles requires 2 hits to clear).
The cost and effects of each weapon are as follows:

  • 1-WAY (1CP): Hit one tile adjacent to the selected tile.
  • 3-WAY (unlock in SECTOR A, 2CP): Hit 3 tiles adjacent to the selected tile.
  • LASER (unlock in SECTOR B, 3CP): Hit 4 tiles in a straight line.
  • BOMB (unlock in SECTOR B, 4CP): Clear all 6 surrounding tiles (regardless of level) adjacent to the selected tile.

The following links show the maps of each SECTOR:

Ω-ATTACK songs (except CS Crossovers) have a blue background bar on the songwheel menu, instead of gray.

SECTOR A

SECTOR A BOSS

To access the boss song tiles, obtain all 7 KEY PROGRAMs in SECTOR A.

SECTOR B

To access SECTOR B, obtain the ANOTHER chart of トリカゴノ鳳凰 and clear the subsequent portal tile. You can later switch between both SECTORs by pressing the VEFX button.

SECTOR B BOSS

To access the boss song tiles, obtain all 7 KEY PROGRAMs in SECTOR B.

ぼくらの宇宙戦争 (tricoro / YELLOW)

The ぼくらの宇宙戦争 (Our War of the Worlds) unlock system, introduced on March 21th, 2013, is an after-play, RPG-style mini-game that involves defeating alien bosses in order to unlock new songs.

The event requires players to be registered to a store. Once a store is chosen, players cannot change it to another one anymore. The progression of the event is store-based - if a player unlocks a song in a specific store, other players registered to said store can play the song too. Bosses' HP carry as well.

Regardless of the chosen mode, after a play session you will access the boss battle screen where you can select the boss to attack. Each bosses have a HP bar which consists of a blue gauge, a yellow gauge and a red gauge pieced together. When the blue gauge reaches zero, the Normal chart of the YELLOW BOSS song gets unlocked; yellow gauge and red gauges unlock Hyper and Another charts respectively. Dellar points are gained after every attack.

CS Crossovers instead require the HEROIC GAUGE to be filled, whose process is much quicker. However, unlike the YELLOW BOSS songs, the HEROIC GAUGE is player-based instead of being collectively store-based, meaning that players can unlock the CS Crossover only for themselves.

The strength of the boss increases in proportion to the amount of players registered to a store. The amount of damage dealt to the boss depends on the player's Score on a song, on the difficulty level of a song and on the mood of the boss, which is scripted to change during specific hours of the day and shown by the three different types of "smiley" faces appearing on the boss selection screen. If you win a Rival Battle, the amount of damage dealt to the boss will be doubled, or almost as doubled against Chapter 2 bosses.

The sword icon on the screen represents the Critical Gauge. Once filled, in the successive boss assault the damage dealt will be greater (players can make their own "critical attacks" in the eAMUSEMENT website). Critical Gauge is filled faster by playing songs from different IIDX versions within the same play session.

It is possible to gain random bonuses during the boss attack section, that carry to all the players of a store. These are:

  • (Red) Sword Icon: damage increase.
  • (Yellow) Shield Icon: HEROIC GAUGE increase.
  • (Blue) Sword Icon: Critical Gauge increase.
  • (Cyan) Hexagon: Bonus Dellar Points.
  • (Gray) Mamonis: Nothing.

The event proceeds with timed-unlocked Acts. Currently, not all the Acts are available.

ぼくらの宇宙戦争 songs (except CS Crossovers) have a background yellow bar on the songwheel menu, instead of gray.
