Trivia

This song has different backgrounds, banners, jackets, or other related images. For more information, please see this page.
  • PARANOiA marks Naoki Maeda's debut in BEMANI.
    • According to Naoki, he was forced to make PARANOiA under many restrictions.
  • PARANOiA is the first and only KONAMI original introduced in DanceDanceRevolution, available as a FINAL STAGE song for HARD MODE.
  • Much like other songs of the PARANOiA series, PARANOiA's artist, 180, is a reference to its BPM.
    • However, PARANOiA's real BPM is not a constant 180 BPM, instead it changes from a minimum of 169.81 to a maximum of 183.67 BPM.
    • According to an interview with Tatsh, Naoki used 180 as the artist name for PARANOiA since it was considered taboo at the time in Japanese video games for a video game composer to use their real name for artist credit. Naoki was later asked by one of the directors about who was 180, and suggested to Naoki to use "NAOKI" as an alias (which was later used starting in DanceDanceRevolution 2ndMIX with BRILLIANT 2U). (The interview can be seen here, second set of questions).
  • The robot in PARANOiA's background and jacket is based on Tetsushin Kongouji (金剛寺鉄心), one of the playable characters from KONAMI's arcade game FIGHTING武術 (FIGHTING BUJUTSU), which Naoki also worked on.
  • PARANOiA is Hirotaka Ishikawa's, director of several DanceDanceRevolution CS titles, favorite BEMANI song [2].
  • PARANOiA holds the record as the song with the most appearances in DanceDanceRevolution arcade and CS releases.
  • PARANOiA received brand new Single MANIAC and Double ANOTHER charts, as well as a new background, in DanceDanceRevolution Internet Ranking Version.
  • PARANOiA received a Double MANIAC chart in DanceDanceRevolution 4thMIX.
  • PARANOiA received a unique video in DanceDanceRevolution EXTREME2. This video was carried to the arcade releases in DanceDanceRevolution SuperNOVA. This video is played full-screen and eliminates any on-screen dancers.
    • A video based on its original DanceDanceRevolution animations is shown when PARANOiA is played from the DDR SELECTION folder.
      • Curiously, it features the song's original background, rather than the one introduced in DanceDanceRevolution Internet Ranking Version and used in all subsequent titles.
  • PARANOiA's banner was updated in DanceDanceRevolution X.
  • PARANOiA(X-Special) is one of the X-Special EXTRA STAGEs in DanceDanceRevolution X, which can be played from February 12th, 2009 by obtaining a AA or better on any song in the DanceDanceRevolution folder before the FINAL STAGE.
    • As of October 1st, 2009, PARANOiA(X-Special) has been unlocked for normal play.
  • From DanceDanceRevolution X2 onwards, PARANOiA(X-Special) appears in the DanceDanceRevolution X folder instead of the original DanceDanceRevolution folder.
  • In DanceDanceRevolution GB, PARANOiA runs at 175 BPM.
  • Since June 1st, 2017 in DanceDanceRevolution A, PARANOiA(X-Special) no longer appears in the song selection screen if the player does not use an e-amusement pass.
