Trivia

  • SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY is DJ SIMON's first song in beatmaniaIIDX.
  • At the time of its release, SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY went up to the highest BPM of any song in IIDX. This would not be topped until beatmaniaIIDX 5th style, when tablets' Another chart would go up to 360 BPM.
  • SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY is infamous by its BPM changes, which led Japanese players to create the term "soflan" (ソフラン, sofuran) to denominate when a song has sudden big BPM changes.
    • Sugimoto himself also referenced SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY's BPM changes on the title of his Do you love me? remix on beatmania completeMIX2, which was titled Do you love me? (SOFT LANDING MIX).
    • PON referenced this term in the pop'n music 20 fantasia staff comments for KIMONO♥PRINCESS.

Music Production Info

Commentary by dj TAKA:

I got comments from DJ SIMON for this song.

"With a flowing drum'n'bass rhythm, polished piano riffs, and listless female vocals all intertwined, it's kind of strange and has a mysterious feel to it. Since it's blessed with the genre 'spiritual', I tried to make it the best 'spiritual' game song I could. It's not an accident, so play it with peace of mind."

Hmm. Anyway, we've pulled a new trick or two to use on this song, so everyone play it!

Video Production Info

It looks like "spiritual" is a new genre for us. There's something suspicious about the great change in tempo, and a sort of melancholy image pervades the song. It's the most "problematic" song for 2nd style in terms of production. We really wanted to do an original video for this song, but this was never realized due to certain circumstances. Still, I even like this video. GOLI put some animations together especially for this song. Since it was a spiritual song, GOLI put lots of work into coming up with a good idea. He ended up giving me a rough sketch (almost a doodle) of a woman like the one that shouts "OH! Yeah!" throughout the song, brimming with a certain appealing maturity. However ... (Let's try playing it now.)
