To access EXTRA STAGE, you must obtain at least an AA on all the songs prior to EXTRA STAGE. Unlike X, there are no FINAL STAGE-exclusive songs and all four lives are given to the player regardless of the score. For the EXTRA STAGE-exclusive KIMONO♥PRINCESS, an additional level requirement must be satisfied, which can be accessed depending on the number of stages set by the operator and the accumulated total level of difficulty for the songs they played. The minimum levels are:

EXTRA STAGE / ENCORE EXTRA STAGE
As of January 26th, 2011, both songs are unlocked by default.
To unlock the EXTRA STAGE this time around, you must now AA/AAA all of your songs in one game session. There are no FINAL STAGE-exclusive songs in X2.

Doing so unlocks KIMONO♥PRINCESS as your EXTRA STAGE, although what difficulty level you can play the song on depends on how many stages you play and how many difficulty levels the songs you play are. From left to right point requirement-wise: BEGINNER, BASIC, DIFFICULT, and lastly EXPERT. Note that reaching a certain amount also unlocks the difficulty levels under.

* 2 songs: 1-12, 13-18, 19-26, 27-38
* 3 songs: 1-18, 19-27, 28-39, 40-57
* 4 songs: 1-24, 25-36, 37-52, 53-76
* 5 songs: 1-30, 31-45, 45-65, 66-95

Getting a AA or higher on KIMONO♥PRINCESS on EXPERT difficulty unlocks the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE, roppongi EVOLVED. Note that are four different versions of the song; which version you get is random. You can't choose another song or difficulty other than EXPERT for your ENCORE EXTRA STAGE, though you are allowed to set options.

On August 25th, 2010, the Boss Rush X2 course was unlocked, giving access to roppongi EVOLVED's DIFFICULT charts and on more than one life for the first time.

Both KIMONO♥PRINCESS and roppongi EVOLVED were unlocked for regular play on January 26th, 2011.

Replicant D-action is a new EXTRA STAGE event in DanceDanceRevolution X2. Its design is similar to CARDINAL GATE from beatmania IIDX 13 DistorteD. By fulfilling certain requirements, the player can unlock a special folder with up to six new songs. Each song is represented by a color, and the requirements for each are listed below:

|Clear two different songs in each game folder (12 folders or 24 songs in total).
** Orange. Full combo 15 different stepcharts (multiple difficulties for the same song count), then play Sakura Sunrise and Shiny World on the same difficulty to unlock that one difficulty for New Decade.

** Purple. Pass songs on CHALLENGE difficulty until their total levels are at least 100 (the same song can be played multiple times), then play Pierce The Sky and Sakura Sunrise on the same difficulty to unlock that one difficulty for POSSESSION.

Requirements for Single and Double Play must be met separately (except for Anti-Matter, whose Trial Mode requirement counts for both Single and Double). Once the player has met the requirements for at least one song, a special Replicant D-action folder will appear during EXTRA STAGE only, containing all songs (between one and six) that the player has met the requirements for. Selecting the folder displays a confirmation message, warning that once the folder is opened, it cannot be exited until the end of the credit. Inside the folder, a special BGM plays, hiding any song previews. While playing each song, the player's dance character battles a RINON clone of the song's color, who appears as a secondary background dancer.
Once the player has met the requirements for at least one song, a special Replicant D-action folder will appear during EXTRA STAGE, with the available songs based on whichever criteria have been fulfilled. Its folder will appear with one player only. Once the folder is opened, the player is then locked onto the folder until the end of the credit. BPM values are displayed, but song previews are hidden. While playing each song, the player's dancer character battles a RINON clone of the song's color, who appears as a secondary background dancer.

If the player clears one of the above six songs on EXPERT with a AA, they will earn a medal of the song's color. Once the player has earned all six medals (one from each song) in any order, the results screen of the sixth song will lead to a special cutscene, immediately followed by an ENCORE EXTRA STAGE announcement with the song locked to Valkyrie dimension on EXPERT difficulty, with the same options the player had for the previous song (you can use the left and right buttons to change the speed mod). Attempting Valkyrie dimension costs all six medals, and the player must reobtain them to play it again.
To obtain a medal for the first six songs, players have to clear them on EXPERT with a AA rank or better. By obtaining all six medals, the player will immediately play Valkyrie dimension's EXPERT chart for the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE, without any opportunity to change any options. It costs all six medals to play the song, and you'll need to re-obtain them all to play it again after.

Updates / Regional Differences
As of August 31st, 2010, medals can be obtained BASIC or DIFFICULT, though Valkyrie dimension will still be forced on EXPERT difficulty. ASSIST options are now disabled for Valkyrie dimension.

As of August 31st, 2010, it is possible to obtain medals by getting a AA on BASIC or DIFFICULT; however, Valkyrie dimension's difficulty will still be locked to EXPERT. In addition, any arrow-removing options (CUT1/CUT2, Jumps Off, Freezes Off) that the player has set on their sixth medal song will be unset for Valkyrie dimension. (This fixes an exploit where it was possible to play Valkyrie dimension's EXPERT chart on CUT2, making it much easier, by obtaining the last medal on Sakura Sunrise on CUT2.)
Replicant D-action ended on February 23rd, 2011, and all its songs were made available by default. The last four songs' CHALLENGE charts were added, though could only be played on Marathon Mode; these charts were eventually unlocked on April 1st, 2011.

As of November 2nd, 2010, the VS REPLICANT boss course is unlocked, making it possible to play all seven Replicant D-action songs in a row on one credit, and also revealing Valkyrie dimension's DIFFICULT charts for the first time.
In the Western releases of DanceDanceRevolution X2, to compensate for the lack of e-AMUSEMENT support, the first three songs were added on July 28th, 2011 (the other four songs could only be played on the VS REPLICANT course instead), followed by the other four songs on October 1st, 2011.

As of February 23rd, 2011, the Replicant D-action event has ended, the special folder is no longer accessible, and all seven songs are unlocked for normal play (revealing Valkyrie dimension's BASIC and BEGINNER charts for the first time). In addition, CHALLENGE charts for the last four songs are unlocked for Marathon Mode.
As of April 1st, 2011, the four CHALLENGE charts that were previously Marathon Mode-exclusive are unlocked for normal play.
In the Western releases of DanceDanceRevolution X2, due to the releases not supporting e-AMUSEMENT, the unlock mechanics of the seven songs were heavily simplified. On release date (December 31st, 2010), all seven songs were locked. On July 28th, 2011, the first three songs were unlocked for normal play and the VS REPLICANT course was unlocked, allowing access to the remaining four songs. On October 1st, 2011, the remaining four songs were unlocked for normal play.
