Lyrics

Maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should
Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could
Little things I should have said and done
I never took the time

You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Maybe I didn't hold you
All those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I never told you
I am so happy that you're mine
If I made you feel second best
I'm so sorry I was blind

You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give me,
One more chance to keep you satisfied
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Trivia

This song has different backgrounds, banners, jackets, or other related images. For more information, please see this page.
  • Always on My Mind is Pet Shop Boys' tenth single.
  • Always on My Mind was later included in Pet Shop Boys' third album, Introspective in 1988.
  • Always on My Mind features its music video, eliminating any on-screen dancers.
    • The cut of the video differs in console and arcade releases. The most notable difference is at the final chorus, where the console version uses the scene of the band members on a train noticing a zebra being carried away, while the arcade version uses a one-shot of the band passing through a station where they first pass a group of soldiers then a violinist playing along to the song.

Song Production Information

Who else could turn a Country/Western standard into a dance classic but the legendary Pet Shop Boys? Altough it is a song telling the tale of remorseful love, it's hard not to feel joyful when dancing to it's infectious groove. Originally released as both a single and on their 1988 "Introspective" album, Always on My Mind peaked at number 4 on the Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
