La Bamba isn't listed first in the DDR SuperNOVA folder like other licenses are. I don't think it's a license.

Oddly, though, the MAMBO A GOGO version is in the DDR EXTREME folder, suggesting that that version's a license. I'm confused. --M.B. (talk) 23:47, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

  • I'm not sure what's the deal with both La Bambas. Going to add the Licensed Songs category for MAMBO's LA BAMBA for now. --FinalOffset (talk) 00:01, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

Further thoughts

  • More fuel to add to La Bamba not being a license - it has a Konami Digital Entertainment copyright in the credits for DDR X2 CS, like other Konami original songs do. (look at 1:17) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFwqd6BFq68
    • Also not listed in the license credits of SuperNOVA2 arcade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkWu0ncB56M
      • Okay. Now I'm super confused. I thought it was an original, but then it appears in the license folder in X3, as shown here in the Variety folder in 15:33: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdUGhJ6vOqo
      • Reverting it back to a license for now.
      • I don't think being included on the Variety folder means much, as shown here where both La Bambas, LoveLove DokiDoki, 女言葉の消失, Idola, and MITOれて!いばらきっしゅだ~りん are included, none of them being credited as a license at the bottom of the page (Idola's credits are for the use of GUMI on its jacket). It's more of a "popular songs/artists that you might know that don't fit the other categories" folder. --FinalOffset (talk) 18:12, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
        • I wouldn't be surprised if the original version of the song is in the public domain. Wikipedia lists an insane number of cover versions on the talk page about the general song. The fact that the SN song is on two US CS releases is also kinda telling as I don't think there's any other licensed song on multiple US CS releases for seemingly no reason (discounting the 2008 X-edit songs here). But this wouldn't be the first time Konami's been inconsistent with whether something is licensed or not... --Thunderbird (talk) 18:28, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
          • In my opinion, I don't believe the song is licensed, because as the composition credit says, it's a folk song. If it were, then all of the classical music covers in BEMANI would count as licenses too. As for the Variety folder, I think that's just in there because it's a song a player can recognize. --DJ Tomoe (talk) 19:01, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
