AOP was born out of anime-related projects by Anime Theater X (AT-X), a Japanese satellite broadcasting channel, and Nikkei Business Publications, a publishing company. In 2015, they sang はなまるぴっぴはよいこだけ, the first opening theme for the Osomatsu-san (おそ松さん) anime series, and continued to do theme songs for other anime series since then.
In BEMANI, licensed songs by them were included starting with BeatStream as part of the A応P × BeatStream campaign, and they later performed KONAMI original songs as part of the jubeat × 永谷園 event.
The current members of AOP other than Yuuki Hirose were members of AOP ZERO (A応P ZERO), which started its activities as AOP's sister unit in 2017, and became official members of AOP in 2018.
AOP dissolved on March 31st, 2021.
Trivia
- Of the members of AOP ZERO, only Eriko Kawakami (河上英里子) has left the group without becoming an official member of AOP.
- Many of the members of AOP are engaged in voice acting, and most of the members belong to various voice actor offices.
- Yuriko Hizaki, who changed her stage name to Yuri Hinami (日南結里) after she left AOP, is voice of Natsuhi Shinonome in the HinaBitter♪ media mix project.
- Seena Hoshiki is the voice of Riamu Yumemi in THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS.
