Song Connections / Remixes

  • Happy-hopper is a Rotterdam techno arrangement of two folk songs:
    • The beginning and ending are based on Korobeiniki, a 19th century Russian folk song based on a poem by Nikolay Nekrasov. Korobeiniki is most widely known for its usage in the Tetris video game series.
    • The middle section is based on Mayim Mayim, an Israeli folk song composed in the 1930's. Mayim Mayim's folk dance was introduced to Japan during its post-war reconstruction as a form of community-building exercise, and has since appeared in a variety of Japanese television shows, movies, and video games (including KONAMI's Sexy Parodius).

    • Because of this, Happy-hopper's arranger was unknown until 2020, when TOMOSUKE confirmed Kazuhiro Senoo's involvement [1].
