Teranoid picture

I don't really know how to post messages here, but I imagine that Teranoid picture was in some of the original pressings of the CD, because I had heard there were some indie pressings before it was picked up by another label and re-printed, and I'd imagine whichever pressing you have is the one that doesn't have those pictures in it. I just got them from a torrent of the album someone put up and they are included as booklet scans, and that picture was the center of the booklet, a 2-page spread. -Machineares

Heartbeat

Hey, I noticed you added lyrics to Heartbeat (about five months ago, but still). Did you do them by ear, or did you get them from somewhere? -JD 01:21, 11 Nov 2005 (EST)

Man, it's been so long I don't remember. Probably a combination of the two. (edit, later) Well, this matches almost exactly the copy that's floating around the Internet. I didn't trust one word in there, but listening on better headphones it could go either way. If someone has a lyrics sheet for this ... *shrugs* -Miz 17:21, 20 Nov 2005 (EST)

I was listening to the long version, where it sounded pretty clear. If you want, I can show you. -JD 18:13, 20 Nov 2005 (EST)

Hey, I totally didn't see your edit after this ^^;

I just picked up the Super Eurobeat Presents Initial D Nonstop Megamix, which has lyrics. I'll update the lyrics tomorrow - there are minor changes to be made. -Miz

Cool. I noticed you also fixed Injection of Love's lyrics... does that mean you'll put up the full version's lyrics here, too? (Some songs already have that, so it wouldn't be a new thing, either... And you have really really awesome lyrics skills. Thanks for doing this!) :D -JD 05:45, 7 Mar 2006 (EST)

Ah, okay. May as well, if there's precedent to force me to be unlazy *grins* (Hey, new messages notification, cool.)

I've been doing this sort of thing for seven years. I've had lots of time to make mistakes to work out kinks in the way I work. Well, that and almost all of what I do comes from Japanese lyrics in booklets, so those are fairly easy ^^;--Miz 16:51, 7 Mar 2006 (EST)

Lyrics

Today I fixed lyrics for six songs. I'm not really complaining, since at least I *can* thanks to this being a wiki. Still, I'd rather, say, add more production info. (Well, that's all I do here, really ... ) Inaccurate lyrics have been with fandoms forever. I wish that weren't the case, and statistically, bad lyrics are going to propogate. However, I have a few suggestions.

  • Don't put lyrics you're not sure of on the main article page. If you have to put question marks after words as an indication that you're not sure that that word really is that word, it's not ready to go on the main page. An article's Talk page is probably a great place to put anything you're not sure of.
  • Try to do some sort of sanity checking. At least don't put sounds that don't occur in Japanese in your Japanese romanized lyrics. It's really best to just use the version that appears in the liner notes, though, which brings us to ...
  • Try not to publish lyrics that don't have some sort of authoratative source, especially if they're really not clear. Probably the two worst possible offenders for this are murmur twins and NO DOUBT GET LOUD (anything by ASLETICS, really). You get different interpretations from different people, and if we tried to authoratively state the ONE TRUE LYRICS for songs like these, we'd have edit wars. (Well, not really, 'coz the VJ ARMY crowd really doesn't tend itself to that sort of thing, but you get what I'm saying.) Obviously this isn't a hard litmus test or anything, but exercise some discretion. Anime Lyrics is not authoratative; they've published plenty of bad romanizations in the past. The Bemani Lyrics Database is not authoratative; they have really good intentions, but it's hard to take seriously a site that accepts HELL SCAPER lyrics. If it really is clear or common knowledge, that's different.

I'm sorry this sounds so whiny and bitchy, but it's been a pet peeve of mine for years. LYRICS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS, heh.

  • Speedy Cat, what the fuck? I remember seeing another set of lyrics for Speedy Cat which fit MUCH better with the actual music... although now they're offline. Were those lyrics REALLY in the booklet? o_O --Sakurina 11:24, 6 May 2006 (EDT)
Yep. They also sound right to me. (I have doubts about Listen Up, but eh.)--Miz 18:34, 6 May 2006 (EDT)
Thanks for the Lyrics help. Where do you get them from? Thanks in advance (lolgetit?!?!). — Santiago22 (talk) 18:43, 16 Jun 2006 (EDT)
Mostly the lyrics booklets from OSTs, occasionally from Googling phrases I can recognize if they seem to make sense ... but generally there's not much online that isn't in the lyrics booklets. Pop'n lyrics I don't have (or have access to) nearly as many OSTs, but there's a nice webpage (http://www.geocities.jp/go_waw/popn-p.htm) that has lots of reliable-looking lyrics. I also get contributions from the Bemanistyle lyrics webpage; +//3//f/9//3//f/9//3//f/9//3//f/9- contributed, for example, the English lyrics in CaptivAte.
