APPEND DISC

APPEND DISC is a KONAMI term for PlayStation and Dreamcast game discs that can not start on their own, and must be launched by inserting a KEY DISC into the console then swapping to the APPEND DISC. The concept is overall very similar to expansion packs that were released for many game during that era, and allowed for new games to be released at a lower price. An APPEND DISC game from a given series can only be used with KEY DISC games from the same series.
