Like previous EXTRA STAGE systems in beatmania IIDX, the sum of difficulty levels and DJ LEVEL are the main requirements to unlock a SHADOW REBELLION song for EXTRA STAGE. As an additional requirement, the user needs 3 shadow gems, one per play, for access the SHADOW REBELLION folder.  
To be able to access the event folders, the player must collect three Shadow Gems; one can be earned for every credit of STANDARD played. After the requirement has been met, the folders can be accessed through the more traditional EXTRA STAGE requirements.

Similar to ARC SCORE, every time a song is cleared as the EXTRA STAGE, you get one ARC Element for it, which is used to unlock its charts outside the EXTRA STAGE.
By playing songs under the SHADOW REBELLION folder for the EXTRA STAGE, more Shadow Gems can be earned, which is used to unlock charts for play outside the EXTRA STAGE as well as additional bonuses.

* One Shadow Gem unlocks the NORMAL chart outside EXTRA STAGE
* Three ARC Elements unlocks the HYPER chart outside EXTRA STAGE
* Two Shadow Gems unlocks the HYPER chart outside EXTRA STAGE
* Five ARC Elements unlocks the ANOTHER chart outside EXTRA STAGE
* Three Shadow Gems unlocks the ANOTHER chart outside EXTRA STAGE
