This is the first appearance of Hyper notecharts in the series. Very few songs have them, though.
This is the first game in the series to have nonstop mode, in which you play a series of songs straight without breaks between songs.
Katoaka Tsugumi (Parquets) and Kume Yuki (Q-Mex) make their debut in the series. Ma-You makes his only appearance in the series outside of Pop'n Stage.
This is the last arcade version to run on beatmania hardware.
The character designs of Nyami and Mimi are a little different this time around. Their heads are bigger in proportion to their bodies, and their eyes are noticeably bigger.
