  • Bananarama producer Mike Stock later clarified in a 2022 podcast that I Heard A Rumour was not based on Give Me Up. "We didn't do sampling. There's no similarity in the lyric, there's no actual similarity in terms of note-for-noteness in the tune. We were doing Europop." [1]
