‘Shades Of Grey’ is supposed to be a very positive track, the lyrics and chord progression are supposed to be quite 'empowering' for the listener.
Donna has such a deep emotion in her voice and we wanted to create a track that contains as much of that uplifting ‘happy hardcore’ vibe as possible, whilst keeping the nature of the music itself and the production very much on a 21st century tip.
The piano is different to the usual hyper-fast patterns usually employed in music of this style, we wanted to show how musical hardcore can be without losing that ‘ravey’ edge and danceable lead line.
