* When using the Screen filter option, if a chart ends with Freeze Arrows, the filter now disappears at the end of the arrows instead of at the start.
* When using the Screen filter option, if a chart ends with Freeze Arrows, the filter now disappears at the end of the arrows instead of at the start.
* Successfully clearing a Shock Arrow now has the O.K. judgement and the combo increase appear immediately instead of being delayed a half-beat. (This may indicate that the timing windows on Shock Arrows have been changed, but this is not confirmed.)
* Successfully clearing a Shock Arrow now has the O.K. judgement and the combo increase appear immediately.
* The music select screen now resembles that of the SOUND VOLTEX series.
* Timing windows have been adjusted to remove the "magic BPMs" problem that existed in previous games.
* The music select screen has been completely redesigned. It now strongly resembles the UI used in the SOUND VOLTEX series at the time.
** Sorting by Difficulty now follows other BEMANI games, with each Level folder containing all difficulties rated with said Level.
** Sorting by Difficulty now follows other BEMANI games, with each Level folder containing all difficulties rated with said Level.
* Song folders now sort songs in the following order: songs in Japanese are first, then regular ABC order, and lastly song names that begin with numbers.
** A BPM gauge is present on the music select screen for the first time since DanceDanceRevolution X. However, it now animates based solely on the currently selected song's maximum BPM and disappears if the currently selected song has a random BPM (e.g. EXTRA EXCLUSIVE songs on EXTRA STAGE).
* Song folders now sort songs in the following order: Japanese titles, then regular ABC order, and lastly song beginning with numbers.
** Licenses are also no longer put first in the song folders.

* Options and characters can now be selected via the game's eAMUSEMENT website.
** Newly revived songs that were not timed-exclusive (Determination and MAKE A JAM!) are listed under DanceDanceRevolution A in Version sort, rather than their respective originating versions.
** The Area Browser can also now be done via the eAMUSEMENT website.
* Options and characters can now be selected via the game's e-amusement website.
* For Japanese cabinets with PASELI enabled, this option is now divided on:

** PASELI-PREMIUM MODE: the original PASELI option available up to DanceDanceRevolution (2014).
** PASELI-STANDARD MODE: uses less points than PREMIUM MODE. This option counts as STANDARD MODE without inserting physical coins.

* A total of 8 songs released during DanceDanceRevolution (2014) were retrospectively moved to the DanceDanceRevolution A folder.
* A total of eight songs released during DanceDanceRevolution (2014) were retrospectively moved to the DanceDanceRevolution A folder.
** Included are the 4 licensed songs from the EDM~Exciting★Dance★Matsuri~ event, the 3 KONAMI original songs from the OSB~Winter★Special★Present~ event, and きゅん×きゅんばっきゅん☆LOVE.
** Included are the four licensed songs from the EDM~Exciting★Dance★Matsuri~ event, the three KONAMI original songs from the OSB~Winter★Special★Present~ event, and きゅん×きゅんばっきゅん☆LOVE.
* Even for new songs, characters now use the old dance routines introduced back in DanceDanceRevolution SuperNOVA instead of the new ones introduced in DanceDanceRevolution X.
* Even for new songs, characters now use the old dance routines introduced back in DanceDanceRevolution ULTRAMIX instead of the new ones introduced in X. This retroactively applies to every other song as well.
** Songs that have special choreographies (e.g. Dream Machine) still keep their special choreographies, though.
** Songs with special choreography still keep them, though.
** Dance Celebration's special choreography was revived as well.
** Dance Celebration's special choreography was revived as well.
* The song title and artist are now centered rather than left-aligned within their box in gameplay.
** Songs with special choreography now always force a random male character on Player 1 and a random female character on Player 2, overriding the players' respective character selections.
* AFRO, YUNI, JENNY, and RAGE have received new outfits, marking the first time characters receive new outfits since DanceDanceRevolution X2.
** Background dancers and stage animations once again slow down during stops.
** However, the rest of the characters retain their outfits from DanceDanceRevolution X2.
* The song title and artist are now centered, rather than left-aligned within their box, during gameplay.
* Character cut-ins are absent.
* AFRO, YUNI, JENNY, and RAGE received new outfits, marking the first time characters received new outfits since X2.
* "The Dark One" was removed as a playable character.
** Character cut-ins were removed, making this the first arcade DanceDanceRevolution game to omit them since their debut in DanceDanceRevolution SuperNOVA2.
* VICTORY CONCENT returns as a playable character, albeit only being able to appear at random.
** "The Dark One" was removed as a playable character.
* The Butterfly SPECIAL ARROW option has been removed.
* The Butterfly SPECIAL ARROW option has been removed.
* The 0.75x Speed option has been added.
* The 0.75x Speed option has been added.
* The WAVE option is now affected by Speed options instead of ignoring them.
* The HIDDEN and SUDDEN options were removed, making HIDDEN+ and SUDDEN+ usable on all cabinets.
* A background dance stage from DanceDanceRevolution X2 that was removed in DanceDanceRevolution X3 VS 2ndMIX has been restored.
* The WAVE option is now affected by speed mods.
* The GROOVE RADAR will now change accordingly when selecting any options that remove steps from the chart.
* The CLUB background dance stage from DanceDanceRevolution X2, which was removed in DanceDanceRevolution X3 VS 2ndMIX, has been restored. This is the dance stage used by returning songs that previously randomized between either the CYBER or BOOM LIGHT dance stages in DanceDanceRevolution (2014).
* When the dance gauge turns from green to red, the player's lane now receives a Danger overlay.<!-- "from green to red" = doesn't happen on Risky mod or Encore Stage, where it begins red -->
* The BOOM DARK dance stage, along with its five recolored variants introduced in DanceDanceRevolution (2014)'s Replicant D-ignition event, now features rising equalizer bar walls in the background, much like its DanceDanceRevolution X rendition, except that the rising equalizer bar walls do not flash.
** On widescreen cabinets shipped with DanceDanceRevolution X, the speakers will turn red as well.
* All songs without fullscreen background videos will now always play on one dance stage instead of randomly selecting between multiple stages like in previous games.
* EX SCORE is now always displayed in the results screen.
* All songs received upscaled jackets.
* The DanceDanceRevolution (2013) EXTRA STAGE boss songs (Monkey Business, Another Phase, Air Heroes, Spanish Snowy Dance, New Generation, and Blew My Mind), DanceDanceRevolution (2013)'s ENJOY LEVEL songs, as well as the 私立BEMANI学園, jubeat・GITADORA・DDRのTriple Journey, and YuniverHills project (ユニバーヒルズproject) songs, are now playable by default, even without an eAMUSEMENT pass.
* The jacket display and "READY" and "HERE WE GO" prompts during gameplay have been altered: the song's jacket is now shown at the beginning of the song, up to 12 beats before the first note, after which the "READY" prompt appears on screen for one full measure and then the "HERE WE GO" prompt appears for up to three beats afterwards. However, not all songs follow this rule.
* The Chinese version CHALLENGE variants introduced in DanceDanceRevolution X2 are no longer playable; their original Japanese versions are used instead when playing.
** At the same time the "HERE WE GO" message appears on screen, the player's Step Zone becomes active and the Screen filter (if turned on) also appears.
* First arcade DanceDanceRevolution title officially released in North America since DanceDanceRevolution X2.
** If the song being played has a background video or special choreography, the on-screen jacket display is skipped, and the "READY" message is immediately displayed for one full measure, with "HERE WE GO" appearing for three beats afterwards. This mimicks the behavior of "READY" and "HERE WE GO" from previous DanceDanceRevolution games up to DanceDanceRevolution (2014), albeit with the added effect of the screen filter also appearing along with "HERE WE GO".
** This is the first ever North American DanceDanceRevolution release to officially support eAMUSEMENT.
** If on Versus Play a song is selected with each player being on a different difficulty, the behavior of the on-screen jacket display, "READY", and "HERE WE GO" will match the chart whose notes start earlier than the other one. This is not applicable for songs with background videos.
** The North American version has a new marquee currently used only in that region, other regions continue to use the generic marquee introduced with DanceDanceRevolution (2013) or (2014).
* The GROOVE RADAR will now change accordingly when selecting any options that remove steps from the chart.
** The North American version is the first release in that region to not translate, transliterate, or romanize song titles or artists, instead leaving them in Japanese.
* When the LIFE GAUGE turns from green to red in NORMAL or LIFE4 modifiers, the player's lane now receives a Danger overlay.
** The KAC 2012 licenses from DanceDanceRevolution X3 VS 2ndMIX are not present on the North American version.
* On HD cabinets, the lights change colour depending on the current state of the life gauge.
** North American players can choose the states in U.S.A. instead of Japan's prefectures.
** When the life gauge is low, risky or has one life left, the lights turn red.
* 8 licensed western pop songs were added to coincide with the game's North American release (July 7th, 2016 in Japan; July 6th, 2016 in North America).
** When the life gauge is not low or full, the lights turn blue.
** This marks the first appearance of Billboard Hot 100 songs since DanceDanceRevolution X2.
** When the life gauge is full or has higher than one life remaining, the lights turn rainbow.
* EX Score is now always displayed in the results screen.
** Due to this, the code to enable display EX Score has been removed, although the display can still be enabled by the arcade operators during EVENT MODE.
* System background music is composed by U1-ASAMi.
* The 私立BEMANI学園, jubeat・GITADORA・DDRのTriple Journey, and YuniverHills project (ユニバーヒルズproject) songs are now playable by default.
** Songs from 熱闘!BEMANIスタジアム, 発見!よみがえったBEMANI遺跡, 怪盗BisCoの予告状!! and BEMANI SUMMER DIARY 2015, as well as POSSESSION(EDP Live Mix), Poochie and この青空の下で, can be unlocked on EXTRA SAVIOR from June 13th, 2016 if they have not yet unlocked in 2014.
* The song variants with Chinese lyrics used on some CHALLENGE charts, introduced in X2, have been removed. Those charts now play the original Japanese versions of the song instead.
* First DanceDanceRevolution game to feature full-screen background images with lyrics that remove on-screen dancers for certain licenses.
* First arcade DanceDanceRevolution game since 3rdMIX to display lyrics during gameplay, although only for one song.
* First arcade DanceDanceRevolution game since 4thMIX PLUS in which the in-game display language can be switched between Japanese and English (for South East Asia only).
* First arcade DanceDanceRevolution title officially released in North America and Europe since DanceDanceRevolution X2.
** This is the first North American DanceDanceRevolution release to officially support e-amusement.
** Unlike other regions, North America does not use the e-amusement Participation system in place since DanceDanceRevolution (2013). Cabinets are playable without an e-amusement connection, but switching to a new version of the game requires purchasing an upgrade kit.
** European machines do not have e-amusement support.
*** They also lack full options, access to EXTRA/ENCORE EXTRA STAGE, and have a smaller overall songlist.
** Last North American DanceDanceRevolution game to provide a new marquee. (The European version of DanceDanceRevolution A20 PLUS would later come with a new marquee.)
** The North American/European version is the first release in those regions to not translate, transliterate, or romanize song titles or artists, instead leaving them in Japanese.
** North American players can choose from United States (one of the 50 states must be selected), Canada (no individual provinces or territories), or Overseas (for all other countries) for their location place.
*** State names are now written in full instead of abbreviations, while Overseas replaces the Mexico and "etc." options.
*** These regions were first introduced for high scores in DanceDanceRevolution SuperNOVA2: the 50 states used an abbreviated form, Canada and Mexico were options, and Overseas was known as "etc."
** First European DanceDanceRevolution release that only supports the English language.
* Eight licensed western pop songs were added to coincide with the game's North American release.
* First DanceDanceRevolution title to be location tested in Europe since DanceDanceRevolution X2.
* First DanceDanceRevolution title to be location tested in Europe since DanceDanceRevolution X2.
** The location test uses the North American build, housed inside a DanceDanceRevolution X prototype cabinet.
** The location test used the North American build, housed inside a Japanese X Cabinet.
** The location test is the longest of any BEMANI game, lasting three months.
** The location test was the longest of any BEMANI game at the time, lasting three months. This record was beaten by DanceDanceRevolution A20's European location test four years later.
* All remaining Dancemania licenses that are not remixes of KONAMI original songs were removed from the series on May 30th, 2016, making DanceDanceRevolution A the first core arcade DanceDanceRevoution title to have no traditional Dancemania licenses in it.
* All remaining Dancemania licenses that are not remixes of KONAMI original songs were removed from the series on May 30th, 2016, making DanceDanceRevolution A the first core arcade DanceDanceRevolution title to have no traditional Dancemania licenses in it.

* First arcade DanceDanceRevolution title since DanceDanceRevolution X to utilize more than 3 labeling colors to denote special songs on the Music Select screen.
** This update also blocked CHALLENGE-only charts from being shown when players do not use an e-amusement pass.
** In this case, white represents default songs, yellow represents unlocked songs, green represents songs unlockable via EXTRA SAVIOR, purple represents songs unlockable from the NEW Generation 流星拡散フェスタ2016 event, red represents an EXTRA EXCLUSIVE song.
** On November 30th, 2017, the level numbers were moved to the difficulty frame, while the player ID is now displayed on the space originally for the level numbers, and is used in the evaluation screen as well.
* New songs: 76 (Asia), 70 (North America)
* First DanceDanceRevolution title to run on different operating systems, running on Windows XP Embedded or Windows Embedded Standard 7. Later cabinet models ran Embedded Standard 7.
* Total songs: 738 (Asia), 724 (North America)
* Song labeling on the Music Select screen has changed once again:
** white: default.
*** when unlocked, ENDYMION and ACE FOR ACES are shown in white, even though they are not default songs.
** yellow: hidden songs, or songs that only have BEGINNER/BASIC charts unlocked by default.
** red: songs only available as EXTRA EXCLUSIVE or FINAL STAGE.
*** EXTRA EXCLUSIVE LEVEL 1 songs are marked with a gray checkered background.
*** EXTRA EXCLUSIVE LEVEL 2 and 3 songs are marked with a multicolored checkered background.
** green: EXTRA SAVIOR.
** purple: special event EXTRA SAVIOR songs that need to have difficulty charts unlocked one at a time (NEW Generation 流星拡散フェスタ2016, BEMANI SUMMER GREETINGS, and DanceDanceRevolution 20th Anniversary songs).
* A new category, DDR SELECTION, was added to the game on September 26th, 2018. When playing a song under this category, the interface will change to match that of one of the games released in that period.
* eAMUSEMENT support for DanceDanceRevolution A ended on February 27th, 2020.
* European cabinets initially featured a software build date of December 4th, 2017. They received optional updates via USB, instead of online. The first update was released on August 2018 (exact date unknown). Another update was available on April 22nd, 2019. The final update was released on April 15th, 2021.
* The 2021 European update adds 26 songs and removes 3 songs. It includes the following changes:
** The 7 EXTRA SAVIOR songs from the DDR 20th Anniversary Songs event are available for normal play.
** 11 ときめきアイドル songs are available for normal play. (DREAMING-ING!! was added in a previous update.)
** Another 4 songs, including both The 7th KAC Entry Songs and both Follow & RT campaign songs, are available for normal play.
** 2 RINON'S ADVENTURE3 songs (Neutrino and Cosy Catastrophe) and 2 EXTRA EXCLUSIVE songs (IN BETWEEN and Love You More) are available for play on FINAL STAGE.
** The 3 removed songs include only my railgun, 回レ!雪月花 and 放課後ストライド, subsequently after their removal in DanceDanceRevolution A20 PLUS.
** Song difficulties updated to the levels detailed below. No difficulty changes from DanceDanceRevolution A20 PLUS were used, despite being the current version at the time of update.
** The KONAMI and e-amusement logo were updated to the present design.
** YUNI's outfit was updated, replacing the DanceDanceRevolution A logo on her T-shirt with the A20 logo.

The Result Star system introduced in DanceDanceRevolution X3 vs 2ndMIX has been carried over, and is only available on Premium Play. When nine Result Stars are obtained, and FINAL STAGE is cleared, EXTRA STAGE will be played. Both players' stars are combined, and progress carries over to the next round if EXTRA STAGE was not reached. Each player can earn a maximum of three stars per song.
EXTRA STAGE
The Result Star system introduced in DanceDanceRevolution X3 vs 2ndMIX was carried over, including some changes introduced in DanceDanceRevolution (2014) and some changes of its own. As usual, during EXTRA STAGE, the LIFE GAUGE modifier is restricted to LIFE4. As in DanceDanceRevolution (2014), Result Stars and EXTRA STAGE are only available during Premium Play, and both players' Result Stars are combined in VERSUS PLAY.

Result Stars are now always yellow instead of different colors, and their requirements were changed very slightly to match the new grade system:

The Daily Star bonus obtained after the first play of the day is now gone.
As of June 13th, 2016, at the end of each round, RINON's HEAT POWER gauge will increase by one bar. At three bars, Level 2 is reached, and the player is granted three Result Stars at the end of the round. At the maximum of seven bars, Level 3 is reached, and the player is granted a full set of nine Result Stars. The HEAT POWER gauge is reset during the e-amusement maintenance window. The amount of remaining time before the HEAT POWER gauge is reset varies from one player to another. Whichever player has the higher HEAT POWER gauge at the time will determine the EXTRA STAGE Level.

Prior to June 13th, 2016, the EXTRA STAGE-specific song was New Century.
During EXTRA STAGE, the LIFE GAUGE modifier is restricted to LIFE4.

EXTRA EXCLUSIVE
The EXTRA EXCLUSIVE song folder was added on June 13th, 2016. By default, these songs are only playable during FINAL STAGE or EXTRA STAGE with an appropriate level. With each update, a new song was added to EXTRA STAGE Level 2, while songs that were previously assigned to EXTRA STAGE Level 2 were downgraded to Level 1, and from Level 1 to FINAL STAGE. The table below shows the dates on when the songs debuted, and the minimum EXTRA STAGE LEVEL required to access the song:

Starting on June 13th, 2016, the EXTRA STAGE system was expanded. Signaling this, players who unlock EXTRA STAGE now see a short animation depicting RINON and the text "TRY EXTRA STAGE Level 1".
{|class="wikitable" border="1px" style="background:#ccccee; font-size:90%; text-align: center; margin: 1em auto 1em auto"

!style="background:#9999ee; text-align: center;"|Song
Instead of EXTRA STAGE-specific songs appearing in the DDR A folder, they now appear in a special EXTRA EXCLUSIVE folder. Selecting one of these songs causes "EXTRA EXCLUSIVE" to appear at the beginning of the stage instead of "EXTRA STAGE", while the announcer still shouts "Extra Stage!".
!style="background:#9999ee; text-align: center;"|Requires LEVEL 2

!style="background:#9999ee; text-align: center;"|Requires LEVEL 1
A new mechanic is added to make unlocking EXTRA STAGE easier and also access more EXTRA EXCLUSIVE songs. All players now have a HEAT POWER gauge depicting RINON, where the gauge begins empty and can fill up to 7 bars. At the end of each round, even if a player is not on Premium Play and even if the player fails that round, their HEAT POWER gauge will increase by one bar. (This effectively replaces the Daily Star bonus from previous DDR games.)
!style="background:#9999ee; text-align: center;"|Playable on FINAL STAGE

!style="background:#9999ee; text-align: center;"|Unlockable/Playable on FINAL STAGE
Once the gauge reaches 3 bars, RINON powers up and the player advances to EXTRA STAGE Level 2. This makes a new song accessible in the EXTRA EXCLUSIVE folder and also automatically gives the player 3 extra Result Stars whenever their HEAT POWER increases. This means that every round played while at EXTRA STAGE Level 2 only requires earning 6 Result Stars to advance to EXTRA STAGE. Once the gauge reaches 7 bars, RINON powers up again and the player advances to EXTRA STAGE Level 3, which gives the player 9 extra Result Stars whenever their HEAT POWER increases. This means that every round played (on Premium Play) while at EXTRA STAGE Level 3 will always advance to EXTRA STAGE. RINON performs a forced cooldown during the eAMUSEMENT maintenance window (early in the morning of the time zone the machine is set to), emptying the HEAT POWER gauge. This effectively makes HEAT POWER a measure of how many times the player has played that day.

EXTRA EXCLUSIVE LEVELs
|March 30th, 2016
Similar to previous games' EXTRA STAGE setups, over time, new songs are unveiled for EXTRA STAGE while old EXTRA STAGE-specific songs are downgraded to be no longer exclusive to EXTRA STAGE. Unlike previous games, the addition of new songs uses the HEAT POWER system, and old songs are not automatically downgraded below FINAL STAGE.

EXTRA SAVIOR
Unlockable Songs
This event also started on June 13th, 2016. Unlike EXTRA EXCLUSIVE, playing EXTRA SAVIOR songs may unlock them for normal play, but only if the player is on Premium Play mode.

After playing a song on a specific difficulty level, progress through the chart accumulates. If the summed progress of all of your attempts reaches 100% (or if you clear the song), then that chart, and all difficulties under it, will be unlocked for normal play. For example, clearing a song on DIFFICULT will unlock the DIFFICULT, BASIC, and BEGINNER charts. Also for example, failing a chart 70% in, and then failing it again 40% in, will also unlock the chart.
EXTRA SAVIOR
The EXTRA SAVIOR song folder was added on June 13th, 2016. These songs, when unlocked during EXTRA STAGE, can thereafter be played during any stage on Premium Play.

As a bonus, if the player attempts an EXTRA SAVIOR song while on EXTRA STAGE Level 3, the progress gauge will automatically become 100% afterward, even if the song is failed.
You may choose any song on any difficulty, and the amount of progress will accumulate towards the gauge. By learing the song without using any ASSIST modifiers, you unlock that song's charts for regular play (and any charts from lower difficulties if applicable; Single and Double charts unlock separately). Failing a song however, will fill the gauge based on the amount of progress made. Using any ASSIST modifiers (CUT1/CUT2, Jumps OFF, or Freeze OFF) will also proportionally reduce the amount of progress possible. However, songs will instantly unlock regardless if EXTRA STAGE is at Level 3.

Using chart-altering modifiers (e.g. CUT, disabling Freeze arrows) will decrease the amount of progress the player is able to make toward unlocking the song accordingly. Single and Double charts for a song must be unlocked separately.
While most songs (include former songs) can be unlocked (indicated as a green frame), below here are the additional prerequisites needed:
* For songs with CHALLENGE charts (such as IX and JOMANDA), EXPERT charts of said song must be unlocked first;
* For songs with a pink frame, charts are unlocked in order from BEGINNER/BASIC, DIFFICULT, and EXPERT.
** In the case for DDR 20th Anniversary Songs and Celebration, BEGINNER/BASIC are unlocked by default while its higher difficulties required to be unlocked.
** In the case for Triple Counter and Prey, those being the final unlocks for NEW Generation 流星拡散フェスタ2016 and BEMANI SUMMER GREETINGS, respectively, all other charts from the said group have to be unlocked first up to the highest difficulty unlocked.
** Also for NEW Generation 流星拡散フェスタ2016's event, between October 6th and December 1st, 2016, playing any one of the songs (except Angelic Jelly) first in beatmania IIDX 23 copula, beatmania IIDX 24 SINOBUZ, jubeat Qubell, or SOUND VOLTEX III GRAVITY WARS is also required.

For songs with CHALLENGE charts (such as IX and JOMANDA), you must first unlock the EXPERT chart before you can unlock the CHALLENGE chart.
Only songs new to A are listed below.

NEW Generation 流星拡散フェスタ2016 charts must be unlocked one at a time, from BASIC to EXPERT. Charts for Triple Counter are only available after having unlocked the corresponding charts of the other five songs.

The songs from these past events can be unlocked:

* 熱闘!BEMANIスタジアム
* 発見!よみがえったBEMANI遺跡
* 怪盗BisCoの予告状!!
* BEMANI SUMMER DIARY 2015
* POSSESSION (EDP Live Mix)
* Previous EXTRA ATTACK songs Poochie and この青空の下で.

BABY-LON'S ADVENTURE
This event started on August 8th, 2016 and ended on February 27th, 2020. At the results screen, a pixelated BABY-LON will climb a staircase, with the number of steps rewarded as follows:
BABY-LON'S ADVENTURE
This event started on August 8th, 2016. The goal of this event is to get a pixel BABY-LON through six worlds. Clearing each world requires climbing to the top of a staircase, with steps earned after every song depending on the player's grade:

* AAA: 12
* AA: 11
* A: 10
* B: 9
* C: 8
* D: 7
* E/fail: 6

In addition, there are bonuses for reaching these goals in a song:

* Get a MAX COMBO of at least 100: 1
* FULL COMBO: 2
* First play of the day: 1

The bonuses for MAX COMBO and FULL COMBO cannot be combined.

Upon reaching the top of a staircase, the player unlocks a new song and BABY-LON begins the next world at the bottom of that world's staircase. As a result, 'extra' steps earned at the end of a world are lost and not carried over.
* Step Grade: 6 for a E, 7 for a D/D+, up to 12 for an AAA;
* One bonus step for a MAX COMBO of at least 100, and another step if a FULL COMBO is obtained.
* One for the first play of the day.

Each song/world requires more steps to reach the top than the last. The step requirements for songs are as follows:
Upon reaching the top of the staircase, a song is unlocked; excess steps do not carry over. Songs are unlocked in the following order:

* MAKE A JAM!: 16
* MAKE A JAM!: 16
Line 359: Line 534:
* ベィスドロップフリークス: 57
* ベィスドロップフリークス: 57
* Dancer in the flare: 65
* Dancer in the flare: 65
The event concludes after unlocking Dancer in the flare. The minimum number of credits needed to complete the event in one day is 6 for Premium Play and 8 for non-Premium Play.
Songs are listed in unlock order.

RINON'S ADVENTURE
RINON'S ADVENTURE
This event started on April 27th, 2017. The player must complete BABY-LON'S ADVENTURE to begin this event.
This event started on April 27th, 2017. This event is only available on PREMIUM PLAY, occurs during EXTRA STAGE, and requires Dancer in the flare to be unlocked first.

Similar to BABY-LON'S ADVENTURE, the (initial) goal of this event is to get a pixel RINON through three worlds by climbing to the top of each world's staircase. Unlike BABY-LON'S ADVENTURE, the player can only earn steps after the EXTRA STAGE (therefore, this event is only available during Premium Play). The number of steps earned for grade are the same as in BABY-LON'S ADVENTURE, but the combo and first-time play bonuses do not apply.

Upon reaching the top of a staircase, the player unlocks a previously-EXTRA EXCLUSIVE song for normal play (including non-Premium Play mode) and also unlocks that song's CHALLENGE chart. As in BABY-LON'S ADVENTURE, RINON then begins the next world at the bottom of that world's staircase, and 'extra' steps earned at the end of a world are not carried over. Songs are unlocked in the order they were first revealed as EXTRA EXCLUSIVEs.

In the first RINON'S ADVENTURE event, only the first three EXTRA EXCLUSIVE songs are available for normal play unlock, and each world (Worlds 1 through 3) requires 35 steps to climb to the top. This requires a minimum of 3 credits per world or 9 credits in total.

On June 1st, 2017, RINON'S ADVENTURE II began and is accessible for players who have completed the first RINON'S ADVENTURE. Worlds 4 through 6 are now accessible, and each requires 82 steps to unlock. This requires a minimum of 7 credits per world or 21 credits in total (30 since the beginning of RINON'S ADVENTURE).

On July 13th, 2017, RINON'S ADVENTURE III began and is accessible for players who have completed RINON'S ADVENTURE II. Worlds 7 through 10 are now accessible, and each requires 105 steps to unlock. This requires a minimum of 9 credits per world or 36 credits in total (66 since the beginning of RINON'S ADVENTURE). After this, the player will have unlocked all 10 previously-EXTRA EXCLUSIVE songs for normal play along with their 10 CHALLENGE charts.
Similar to BABY-LON'S ADVENTURE, a pixelated RINON will ascend a staircase, based on the Step Grade obtained on EXTRA STAGE (Combo and first-time play bonuses are not applied). Ascending to the top will unlock songs from EXTRA EXCLUSIVE/FINAL STAGE (along with new CHALLENGE charts). One more world opens upon unlocking the first ten songs; completing it will unlock Level A. Steps required:

When the player first completes World 9 (Neutrino) and advances to the beginning of World 10 (Cosy Catastrophe), an additional forward-pointing arrow after World 10 hints at something further to unlock. A portion of an icon after Cosy Catastrophe's jacket is also visible, resembling the purple halo behind "The Dark One" (as seen during the cutscene after EGOISM 440, during DanceDanceRevolution (2014)'s Replicant D-ignition event).
* New Century, RISING FIRE HAWK and Astrogazer: 35
* Come to Life. Emera and Start a New Day (added on June 1st, 2017): 82
* Ishtar, out of focus, Neutrino and Cosy Catastrophe (added on July 13th, 2017): 105
* Level A (added on July 13th, 2017): 156

Sure enough, once the player completes World 10, a World 11 is revealed to be accessible. (Due to a glitch, prior to the August 8th, 2017 update, the text "World 11" displayed as "World 6" instead.) The steps of World 11's staircase are uniquely colored red, and it takes 156 steps to complete this world (a minimum of 13 credits, or 79 since the beginning of RINON'S ADVENTURE). Upon doing so, a cutscene plays where a large spherical machine-like object appears in the sky in front of RINON, and "The Dark One" descends from the sky in a column of light, giving RINON her purple halo before vanishing. The text "GET ITEM" appears above the purple halo, followed by "UNLOCK LEVEL A" (with the "A" stylized as in the logo of "DanceDanceRevolution A"), signaling that the player has completed the final RINON'S ADVENTURE World.
Unlocking Level A will grant you access to ENDYMION and ACE FOR ACES as new EXTRA EXCLUSIVE songs. When EXTRA STAGE is at LEVEL 3, the interface will turn red and a different BGM is played. Playing ENDYMION will consume all HEAT POWER and resets to EXTRA STAGE LEVEL 1 (HEAT POWER will not be given). If the song is cleared with at least a AA+ grade, you'll play ACE FOR ACES on ENCORE EXTRA STAGE (ASSIST modifiers are disabled, and a PERFECT FULL COMBO clear requirement is enforced), based on the difficulty cleared on ENDYMION (up to DIFFICULT).

At this point, no more steps will be earned by playing songs, and the EXTRA EXCLUSIVE folder has been empty for at least the past 13 credits. However, a surprise is waiting for the player the next time they reach EXTRA STAGE Level 3. After the standard "TRY EXTRA STAGE Level 3" animation plays, an image of the spherical object from before will briefly flash with an ominous sound effect on-screen, and the sky in the background will turn red (accompanied by a shaking effect, as if affected by turbulence).
If both ENDYMION's EXPERT and ACE FOR ACES' DIFFICULT charts are cleared in the same credit, ENDYMION's CHALLENGE chart will be available, which allows you access to ACE FOR ACES' EXPERT chart if cleared (or DIFFICULT, if player fails ENDYMION on Versus Play). Like EXTRA SAVIOR, Single and Double charts unlock separately.

If the player now opens the EXTRA EXCLUSIVE folder, a new song is waiting for her or him - ENDYMION. This makes ENDYMION the EXTRA EXCLUSIVE LEVEL A song (past Cosy Catastrophe, the EXTRA EXCLUSIVE LEVEL 10 song), and the only song to be exclusive to EXTRA STAGE Level 3 specifically (instead of Level 1 or 2). Selecting the song displays a warning that it will drain the HEAT POWER gauge (returning the player to EXTRA STAGE Level 1); thus, it can only be played once every eight credits.
After April 26th, 2018, the number of steps earned are doubled. ENDYMION (including CHALLENGE) is now playable on EXTRA STAGE LEVEL 1, and clearing it (regardless of difficulty) unlocks ACE FOR ACES as an EXTRA STAGE LEVEL 2 song.

Proceeding with ENDYMION will play a special cutscene (in between the "EXTRA EXCLUSIVE" banner and the song jacket coming up), which depicts the spherical object looming in the foreground before RINON (in her Level 3 form) flies high above the Earth and charges up the purple halo. The words "LEVEL A GALACTIC STRIKE" appear on screen, and then RINON fires a beam of green light down at the spherical object, destroying it.
After July 26th, 2018, the number of steps were quadrupled. ENDYMION was unlocked for regular play, while ACE FOR ACES became playable at EXTRA STAGE LEVEL 1. Its CHALLENGE charts were added and could only be played on EXTRA STAGE LEVEL 2.

The player's next goal is to clear ENDYMION on BASIC or higher with at least a AA+ grade. (Prior to September 14th, 2017, the difficulty requirement was DIFFICULT or higher. Prior to August 8th, 2017, the difficulty requirement was EXPERT.) If the player fails ENDYMION, the sky remains red on the results screen as well as the stage summary screen, reverting back to blue only when the game's title screen reappears. If the player picks a song other than ENDYMION for EXTRA STAGE, or passes ENDYMION without meeting the conditions, the results screen reverts back to the blue sky.
As of August 30th, 2018, progress was multiplied by 100. Both ENDYMION and ACE FOR ACES are unlocked, while the latter's CHALLENGE chart can be played on EXTRA STAGE LEVEL 1.

If the player clears ENDYMION and meets the conditions, the results screen will show the damaged hull of the spherical object on the ground, with what appears to be an urban skyline at dusk in the background. This signals that the player has unlocked ENCORE EXTRA STAGE; the words "TRY ENCORE EXTRA STAGE <!--space intentional-->!!" will also appear in golden text at the bottom of the screen.

Continuing will immediately proceed to the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE announcement screen (with no cutscene in between), which displays "ATTACK! PERFECT FULL COMBO!!" and automatically picks ACE FOR ACES on BASIC (if ENDYMION was cleared on BASIC) on DIFFICULT (if ENDYMION was cleared on DIFFICULT or EXPERT). Any judgment under Perfect will immediately fail the song. As with Over The "Period" from DanceDanceRevolution (2014), it is not possible to use the left and right buttons on the cabinet to change speed modifiers at the start of the song.

<!-- A description of ACE FOR ACES' background video is included here as it's directly relevant to the Rinon's Adventure 'plot'. Probably unnecessary to copy this description over to ACE FOR ACES' article. -->ACE FOR ACES has a full-screen background movie, which begins with the previously-shown scene of the destroyed spherical object at dusk, before panning up above the Earth to focus on RINON, whose visor displays "SYSTEM SHUT DOWN". As she falls back to Earth, she catches on fire and resembles a meteor. The screen changes over to YUNI with hands clasped looking at the night sky as the meteor streaks down, then changes over back to RINON. The sky transitions to dawn and clouds obscure the falling RINON, while the screen continues to pan downward until it ends underwater. The final screen change, timed with the last note of the song, shows RINON standing on a beach at the water's edge with the daytime sun in the distance. This concludes the RINON'S ADVENTURE plotline. The results screen of ACE FOR ACES, regardless of pass or fail, goes back to the blue sky background.

If ENDYMION is cleared on EXPERT and then ACE FOR ACES is cleared immediately afterward, ENDYMION's CHALLENGE chart will be unlocked. Single and Double charts must be unlocked separately.

Currently, no player has cleared either of ENDYMION's CHALLENGE charts with a AA+ grade.
