There were some old musicians called "guitar heroes". They were more popular than the brilliant vocalists of their bands. Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen... in Japan, Char, Masayoshi Takanaka, Tomoyasu Hotei, and even further back, Takeshi Terauchi, were somewhat refined... but currently, I think there aren't many "guitar heroes" that surpass vocalists, well even now, which guitarist in Japan is known by men and women of all ages (read as: "rounyakunannyo", quickly say it out loud 3 times!)? After thinking about it, this is the only person I thought of! I immediately thought of Yoshio Nomura, a.k.a. Yocchan. I was a 3rd grade middle school student when the first Kinpachi-sensei was aired in real time (I can't tell my age, hey), so this is my personal decision & bias! Perhaps many people say this... so let's boldly affirm this. Yes, Japan is said to be vast, but he's the only "guitarist I'll have tea(?) with"! The younger generation who only saw him as a musician might not believe this, but he was a Johnny & Associates idol a long time ago. And on the contrary, the generation that only knows him as an idol, probably doesn't know that he's a talented guitar player and composer/arranger. By the way, this song, "LUNCHTIME BLUES", is styled after "Kizudarake no tenshi"'s theme song, a TV drama I secretly saw when I was in elementary school, which I shared in common with Nomura!... And I requested for it. "LUNCHTIME BLUES" is a great song.
