** Uhhh... definitively it's odd. To put an extreme case, PARANOiA now shows the BPM as being 170-184, after being for AGES shown as 180... but indeed TLOM is still shown as 83-333 despite that 666.6666666666666 part.

Should we add DM Ashura's explanation about the song's BPM changes from Reddit? https://www.reddit.com/r/learnmath/comments/5d7kz2/calculus_a_speedincreasing_song/da530gf/

About the BPM in DDR WORLD

The BPM that's displayed in the music selection screen apparently is now calculated on the fly by the game engine instead of being entered as a static value in the song database.
By design from the song's origins, the BPM has gone from 100 to 573... however, analyzing the song's SSQ file I found THIS:

Found BPM: 562.5 from second 114.69333333333333 to second 115.97333333333333
Found BPM: 600.0 from second 115.97333333333333 to second 116.07333333333334
Found BPM: 562.5 from second 116.07333333333334 to second 116.18
Found BPM: 562.5 from second 116.18 to second 116.28666666666666
Found BPM: 562.5 from second 116.28666666666666 to second 116.39333333333333
Found BPM: 573.4513274336283 from second 116.39333333333333 to second 123.92666666666666

Huh.

  • that's how it's always been [deltaMAX's internal sync]
though there's at least two songs i've seen whose bpm displays don't match their existing sync values
The legend of MAX has a speed up to 666 BPM, though the BPM display is 83-333 like in previous versions
Finale has a BPM display of 24-190, though none of its charts follow this exact range (BEG to EXP are 48-190, CHA is 24-760)
i'm not sure what the exact criteria is for the bpm displays rather than just picking them from the ssq, but i suspect the parameters might still exist and they just autofilled it for most of the songlist
