DANCE RUSH

DANCE RUSH is an upcoming BEMANI game. During its earlier location tests, it was named STEPSTAR, ShuffleDancerz, and DANCE GENERATIONS, until the fourth location test when the DANCE RUSH name was decided.

DANCE RUSH is a dancing game similar to DanceEvolution. However, instead of using Microsoft Kinect to capture the player's body movements, DANCE RUSH features a big dance platform with sensors, which registers the feet movements of up to two players at the same time. It also features a camera to record the footage of the player(s) dancing. This footage can be later uploaded to YouTube.

Note: All the information on this page is based on the game's location tests. It might change on the final release of the game.

Game Modes

Two game modes are available at the start of your credit. Both can be paid with regular credits or PASELI:

  • Basic (基本): The regular gameplay mode, it lets the player to only record 30 seconds of footage. On the location tests, it lets the player to play 2 songs.
  • Full Shooting (フル撮影): Introduced on the second location test, it allows the player to record footage of the full song. On the location tests, it lets the player to play just 1 song.

Gameplay

How To Play video.

The gameplay screen is similar to the other BEMANI series: When a note reaches the judgment line in time with the beat, the player steps on the platform. The judgment line itself is a representation of a horizontal section of the dance platform, and it display where the player's feet are positioned. The lane perspective is similar to the SOUND VOLTEX series.

DANCE RUSH has different note types, which are:

  • Regular notes: Like the ノスタルジア series, these notes have either a "L" or "R" notation to suggest which foot to use in order to step them.
  • Long notes: Notes that require holding them for the duration indicated on the screen by the length of the note. Note that like Slide Objects of the REFLEC BEAT series, the long note might require the foot to move across the screen while holding the note.
  • Jump marker: As the name suggests, the player must jump when this note reaches the judgment line.
  • Down marker: The opposite of the above note, requires the player to crouch when it reaches the judgment line.

Up to two players can play at the same time. In that case, the dance platform is divided for both players, with the first player (red notes) using the section of the platform farthest from the screen, while the second player (blue notes) uses the section closest from the screen.

As of the latest location test, songs have two difficulties: Easy (かんたん) and Normal (ふつう).

The DANCE RUSH cabinet has four buttons, which are used during the song selection screen for scrolling up/down the songwheel, changing the difficulty level, and setting options. The up/down buttons can also adjust speed mods during gameplay (HighSpeed ranges from x0.5 to x9.0, increased/decreased by 0.5 amounts).

Scoring

DANCE RUSH uses a life gauge, not unlike the DanceDanceRevolution series. Missing notes will drain the life gauge, and when the gauge is depleted, the song will be automatically failed.

Rating

The player's performance is rated from one to five Stars (★).
