Artist Information

Name: Jason Michael "Stillwind" Borenstein
Birthdate: Unknown
Died: February 7, 2009

General Information

Jason Michael "Stillwind" Borenstein provided the image (but not voice) for Michael a la Mode in several tutorials in the beatmania IIDX arcade games, as well as the "voice" in GOLD RUSH and B4U (BEMANI FOR YOU MIX). In the DanceDanceRevolution series he served as a sound director on the X-BOX DanceDanceRevolution Ultramix games, as well as the Wii title HOTTEST PARTY and the 2008 arcade game DanceDanceRevolution X. (He also worked on several other Konami games as part of the sound sound staff, too.)

Jason Borenstein's life was cut short, though. He died on February 7, 2009 from an aortic aneurysm.

Trivia

  • Michael a la Mode literally translates to Michael with ice cream.
  • Jason, under his Michael a la Mode persona, is seen in the tutorial modes starting in beatmania IIDX 15 DJ TROOPERS, helping to explain how to play the game.
  • The "Engrish" in Michael a la Mode's songs can be seen as an inside joke.
  • Jason provided the rapping vocals in Guilt & Love.
  • jubeat ripples song STARLIT DUST/スティルに捧ぐ is named after Jason. The English title in jukebeat, STARLIT DUST/For The Late Stillwind, confirms this.
