General Information

Released: March 2001
Introduced a new difficulty system, rating songs on a scale of 1 to 99 in difficulty. This is still used even today.
First of two games with Multisession, allowing you to combine GuitarFreaks, drummania, and Keyboardmania together to play songs on.
New composers: Osamu Migitera, Yuei Uematsu
Long-time composer Toshio Sakurai near permanently leaves the series. He'll return one more time in Guitar Freaks 9th Mix/drummania 8th Mix.
Long-time vocalists MAKI and Miyuki Kunitake join the series.
