DANCERUSH
DANCERUSH STARDOM is the newest BEMANI game from KONAMI. During its earlier location tests, it was named STEPSTAR, ShuffleDancerz, DANCE GENERATIONS, and DANCE RUSH, until the JAEPO 2018 event when the DANCERUSH STARDOM name was decided.
DANCERUSH STARDOM's machine serial number and version ID start with REC.
DANCERUSH STARDOM is a dancing game similar to DanceEvolution. However, instead of using Microsoft Kinect to capture the player's body movements, DANCERUSH features a big dance platform with sensors, which registers the feet movements of up to two players at the same time. It also features a camera to record the footage of the player(s) dancing. This footage can be later uploaded to YouTube.

Game Modes
Once you enter your credit, you can choose the number of players: 1 Player, 2 Players, or みんなのBATTLE (allows up to 2 players to play against other 2 players with a linked DANCERUSH STARDOM machine). You can also choose the in-game text language regardless of the machine's region, with the available languages being Japanese, English, Korean, and Chinese (simplified and traditional characters).
Three game modes can be selected. They can be paid with regular credits or PASELI.
- LIGHT Mode: only two songs (one song on Korean machines).
- PREMIUM Mode (available from March 29th, 2018): one song, but let players record themselves, which can later be uploaded to YouTube. It also multiplies the ★s earned by six.
- The music section of the DANCERUSH STARDOM's official website lists the songs in which it is possible for the player to record itself, as well as downloading its own footage.
- Gameplay during PREMIUM mode is played back at 30 fps, as opposed to the default 60.
- PREMIUM is not accessible on U.S., Asian or Korean machines at this time.
- STANDARD Mode (available from April 27th, 2018): two songs, an extra ★ for each song played after the first, and access to the EXTRA STAGE by filling the EXTRA GAUGE.
- Requires PASELI on Japanese cabinets or 2 credits on Korean cabinets.
- STANDARD is not accessible on U.S. machines at this time.
Gameplay
The gameplay screen is similar to the other BEMANI series: When a note reaches the judgment line in time with the beat, the player steps on the platform. The judgment line itself is a representation of a horizontal section of the dance platform, and it display where the player's feet are positioned. The lane perspective is similar to the SOUND VOLTEX series.
DANCERUSH has different note types, which are:
- TAP: Like the ノスタルジア series, these notes have either a "L" or "R" notation to suggest which foot to use in order to step them.
- SLIDE: Notes that require holding them for the duration indicated on the screen by the length of the note. Note that like Slide Objects of the REFLEC BEAT series, the long note might require the foot to move across the screen while holding the note.
- JUMP: As the name suggests, the player must jump when this note reaches the judgment line.
- DOWN: The opposite of the above note, requires the player to crouch when it reaches the judgment line.
Up to two players can play at the same time. In that case, the dance platform is divided for both players, with the first player (red notes) using the section of the platform farthest from the screen, while the second player (blue notes) uses the section closest from the screen.
Songs have two difficulties: Easy (かんたん) and Normal (ふつう). Note that charts might be different when playing alone or with another player.
The DANCERUSH STARDOM cabinet has four buttons, which are used during the song selection screen for scrolling up/down the songwheel, changing the difficulty level, and setting options. The up/down buttons can also adjust speed mods during gameplay (HighSpeed ranges from x0.5 to x9.0, increased/decreased by 0.5 amounts).
Scoring
DANCERUSH STARDOM uses a life gauge, not unlike the DanceDanceRevolution series. Missing notes will drain the life gauge, and when the gauge is depleted, the song will be automatically failed. The scoring formula is out of 100.000, with all notes having equal proportion of potential points. Perfects give 100% of the score, Greats give 90%, and Goods give 50%. Note that the score rounds down to the last listed digit.
Rating
The player's performance is rated with stars (★). These stars can be used as currency to unlock songs. You cannot have more than 200 stars at any time. Stars are obtained based on score and game type:
Score | Stars (★) | |||
