Tomoaki Hirono started out as an in-house composer for the Osaka Branch of KONAMI who has been working since 2003 in the company, mainly serving as the sound director on the Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu series, as well as having credited work on Gensou Suikoden Tierkreis, the Quiz Magic Academy series and Castlevania: Harmony of Despair.
Tomoaki Hirono is a Konami composer, who in his early days with the company, worked on games such as Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu series (alongside Naoyuki Sato), Juukou Senki Bullet Battlers, and Bouken Jidai Katsugeki Goemon. He was involved in band activities prior to joining Konami.
His first contributions to BEMANI were the Pop'n Music GB songs whom he's a regular contributor on pop'n music since THE MOVIE, GITADORA since GuitarFreaks XG and DrumMania XG, jubeat since jubeat copious and beatmania since IIDX 20 tricoro.

His music style is more rock and world music oriented, leading him to have an unique sound that oftenly contrasts with other artists who are more techno and electronic oriented.
Tomoaki's first appearance in Bemani was in pop'n music GB in 2000 where he wrote a couple of songs. Years later, he appeared in pop'n music 17 THE MOVIE where he wrote his first song for arcade Bemani. Although he is most known for his ethnic songs, his music ranges widely from light pop to metal. Outside of Bemani he has contributed to various Konami games and is the sound director of Quiz Magic Academy series as of Kenja no Tobira version.

Alongside his appearance in pop'n music 17 THE MOVIE in 2008, Tomoaki started using "Gekidan Record" as his main alias for "ethnical, melancholic, melodious" songs. The alias came from combining two of his favorite things, "theater" (Gekidan is the word for "troupe" or "theater" in Japanese) and "record."

Aside of music and theater, his other interest is art and recently he has been contributing illustration of the jackets for his own songs as well.
