BLASTER GATE

BLASTER GATE (named INFINITE BLASTER prior to SOUND VOLTEX III GRAVITY WARS) is an unlocking mechanism introduced in SOUND VOLTEX II -infinite infection- on March 20th, 2014. It requires to play some songs during STANDARD START to unlock charts. Many of the charts are usually new charts for an older song.
Gameplay
To activate BLASTER GATE, a gauge, BLASTER ENERGY, has to be filled to maximum and cleared under EXCESSIVE RATE, a HARD-type clear gauge in any song, regardless of the score. When playing on STANDARD START, any gauge, including PERMISSIVE RATE, can also be used but the rate is slower. Since May 1st, 2014, BLASTER START was added, allowing the player to play BLASTER GATE immediately.
When the gauge is filled completely or played on BLASTER START, the song's cursor will automatically hover to the folder called BLASTER GATE (named BLASTER TARGET prior to GRAVITY WARS). There, a song with the unlockable chart, along with a pool of available songs are presented if applicable. Each song, chosen at random, has a BARRIER RANK and a BARRIER LIFE, and the player is locked on a special gauge called BLASTER RATE, with ERROR judgements dealing more damage to the gauge for higher ranks, up to 4.0 (NEAR judgements can also decrease the gauge if the rank is 3.5 or higher). When the gauge reaches zero at any point, it triggers a TRACK CRASH, but any progress made prior to this point are factored.
To unlock said chart, the player has to play songs a number of times with the damage dealing to the LIFE dependent on the RANK and clear; higher clear and RANKS deal more damage, and upon depleting the gauge to zero, the chart is unlocked. Not all of the charts are available at the beginning and players have to unlock some songs prior before more charts are available.
Starting GRAVITY WARS, a limited-time event, BLASTER Accel&OverDrive!!! is available for players for a period of time, which benefits the following:
- The rate for filling the BLASTER ENERGY is tripled.
- Any damage dealt is incremented by 0.1 per each attempt, up to 2.0. The damage multiplier resets after 7:00 am.
Starting HEAVENLY HAVEN, the player can now choose any song to play. With the introduction of EXTRACK on August 10th, 2017, unlocking any songs via this manner has to be done on EXTRACK (unless if BLASTER START is chosen by the player).
Starting VIVID WAVE, players can purchase a BLASTER PASS, which eases the following BLASTER-related unlocks within a 24-hour period:
- The rate for filling the BLASTER ENERGY is doubled.
- The BLASTER RANK is fixed at 0.5, regardless of the base rank.
- Any damage dealt is multiplied by 2.5.
- BLASTER PASS can be used on BLASTER Accel&OverDrive!!! events, with bonuses stacking and making unlocks even easier. The BLASTER ENERGY rate increase will be six-fold and the damage rate increments by 0.25 for up to 5.00.
Since EXCEED GEAR, conditions for unlocking charts were simplified as players are now required to either simply clear, or play a total of 20 times, to unlock said chart. If a BLASTER PASS is used, a single play will immediately unlock the chart regardless of medal. Prerequisites for songs (such as Bangin' Burst's GRAVITY and Max Burning!!'s INFINITE) are also removed as well.
List of unlockable charts
Songs are ordered from their debut game in alphabetical order. Songs that have been removed from the SOUND VOLTEX series will not be listed here, while songs with a peach background are unavailable in the Chinese releases of SOUND VOLTEX. All assigned songs are arranged in alphabetical order. All difficulties levels reflected are as of SOUND VOLTEX EXCEED GEAR.
