Trivia

  • The title is Spanish for "the sea".
  • According to Seiya Murai, the original name of the song was El Mar.

Song Production Information

When I first heard that the theme for this style was going to be resorts, the first thing that came to my mind was Ibiza.
It is a resort island off the eastern coast of Spain, and Ibiza was where the origin of club music was from.
After a hectic day of dancing to electric and trance music, one can calm down to some slow and calm music there to chill out.
I'm not really familiar with the music scene in Ibiza, however (laughs) - I searched the net for the information.

Looking at a picture of Ibiza from the screen of my PC, I could see the beautiful sunset reflected off the sea on the island.
I could imagine the euphoria of the people on the island, before the party began...

Using that image of the island of Ibiza and the sea that I remembered so well, I first made an instrumental version of the song.
After finishing the melody of the song, I thought about having someone sing for this song, perhaps in the style of a love song.
But having a Spanish-style song sung in English would be hard on the ears, and having it sung in Japanese would be really bad.
So in this case, I thought I should get a Spanish singer, and hope everything went well.

But in doing my research, I found out that Ibiza uses a different language than that of most of mainland Spain and its capital Madrid.
The language that they use is slightly different (perhaps a different dialect) called Catalan (their word for it), which they mainly use.
In addition, there are several ethnic and historical conflicts between these two regions of Spain that made research more complex.
So something that would be sung in Spanish would have a slightly different meaning in Ibiza... who are very proud of their language, I decided to get a Catalan singer.

Video Production Information

I wanted to create a pleasant video that would heal a tired body and mind after a long night partying at the club.

If you are tired after playing, please play this song to cool yourself off after playing a few intense rounds.
