Lyrics

Seiya Murai

There were many entries in this public vocal audition, and I was able to suddenly participate halfway through it.
In the first screening, while wac, PON, and I listened to each application separated in 3 sessions, and from the hundreds of demo songs I listened to, I was unexpectedly immersed in Akinari's falsetto voice, who elegantly sang a female Vo song in the original key as a man, and I invited him to the second screening to have them both listen to it, then we had a final interview with him.

Akinari, who I met at the interview, is a tall and relaxed man with a currently "soft and fluffy" feeling.
I had a very favorable impression towards his serious singing skills and calm attitude, so as someone who first discovered him, who will he collaborate with? During that discussion, I raised my hand and asked for Akinari.

Actually, during the interview, I soon thought "I wish he'll sing this kind of song..." with a vivid image! And it came to me, so I wrote this song from that idea back then.
I'm also looking forward to the day when Akinari's falsetto voice will soon be revealed.

Congratulations, Akinari!

Akinari

To all pop'n music lovers, nice to meet you! My name is Akinari.
I've been playing pop'n since the first game, and it soon seemed like my childhood friend.
Will I be able to participate in that game someday....

I'm glad I continued to sing!!

When I received the message that my application had been accepted, I was so happy that I screamed "I did iittt!". Sorry neighbors.
On the day of the second interview, I tried to remain calm, but I was extremely nervous, that I rode a train going in the opposite direction! (It's also said that I don't have a sense of direction)
Although I was nervous when I entered the studio, I passionately expressed "I love pop'n" in the song and interview.
After I returned home, I now have good memories of having a fever when I slept, as if my tension immediately disappeared.

When I listened and read the lyrics for "Intersection", my honest opinion was "it's youth! And bittersweet!".
I tried singing with trial and error to convey the feelings depicted in the scene, but did the listeners receive anything out of it?
When you listen to this song and think "his type didn't exist until now" and "I want to listen to him in another song", my meaning for singing suddenly increases.
I hope to receive your support and I'll work hard in the future!

Seiya Murai

I've already discussed the events leading up to my collaboration with Akinari in the Bemani Fan Site, but this is my first song in a while with a male Vo., and I enjoyed creating it with a fresh feeling.

For this song, I was conscious of the nostalgic new music-toned beat and melody while adding my own tastes and tones, and I loved that it resulted in a song which can't be felt anywhere else.
The key might be too high for a male Vo.? I thought about it, but this was the only possible key for this arrangement, and I also wanted to test Akinari's high range abilities, so I created it in this form.
The person himself said "I'll try to do it" and just seriously worked hard on it, and despite that, we were able to record it smoothly without difficulties.
There weren't any mechanical vocal pitch adjustments at all, I just edited the well-expressed parts from the recorded track which was sung many times, and finished it in a new music style from the early golden age.
There are some unstable parts remaining, but I think that this unstable quality is what makes it sound like a song strongly sung by someone in this very synth-like sound.

Also, it's been a while since I wrote lyrics from a (normal) male perspective, and for some reason, I received complimentary(?) comments such as "Murai has high femininity" from Japan and overseas, so does it make me feel happy? It's an extremely indescribable and complicated feeling (laughs).
For this "girls' manga-styled" story, as I wrote in a previous lyric writing course, I depicted it using a method which maximizes the scene with limited words.
It has a male, yet feminine perspective, and I discovered that men think about love in a simple way, so even just a rough depiction can finely convey subtilties.
That's why it's somehow girls' manga-styled. Boys' manga is probably a bit more straightforward and energetic... but that's for another time (laughs).

Come to think of it, when I reviewed the lyrics just before recording it,

Akinari: "This '3D drawing of a navy blue and white borderline~'... what does it mean?"
Murai: ".................. It's that kind of meaning." (grins)
Akinari: "... After all, is that so~?" (grins)

This kind of conversation is unique to fellow men~ (grins)

Akinari, congratulations~!
I admire his sharp, clean feeling, and gentle singing voice.
Murai carefully listened to his falsetto voice, and when I first listened to the song demo, I thought it seemed high, fast, and difficult to sing, but as expected, his singing voice was chosen from many people.
Furthermore~, his beautiful voice overlaps with Murai's song like an instrument... even though it's summer, this clean feeling doesn't make me sweat.... just as I thought!

When I created the character animations based on the song's demo stage, I wondered if "he feels like this~" while Akinari's voice repeated in my mind, but as I made the fluffy hair and white shirt... anyways, he has a refreshing and clean feeling! I thought about this while making him.
Furthermore, the setting and lyrics seem to depict a girls' manga in Murai's original song, and the animations are filled with happiness, so perhaps it has a cleaner feeling... maybe it somehow ended up just having love elements (laughs).

I was also happy to be able to participate in Mintsuku in some way. Once again, congratulations!

pop'n music 20 fantasia

Every year when summer arrives, I remember reuniting with you.

eimy

Did you enjoy this refreshing love song & NAOTO's fulfilling animations for it??
I never thought I'd create "animations of greeting your parents" in pop'n. I casually put a red sea bream on the table, since it's auspicious.

It's noted that Murai's song has a girls' manga image, and the intersection, border shirt and skirt, and age gap is quite detailed, so... when I got into the mood and packed as much as I could into it, love started at a very high speed, and reached the end in one step. Oh wow!
Since everyone said that it can be depicted~ as a girls' manga, I'll ask Murai for his original story.

Staff Comments

TAMA

All the male vocalists had individuality, and I was extremely troubled.

In such a way, Akinari was highly recommended by Murai during the first screening.
There's probably a connection from his comment "the song's image vividly came to me".

masaru

Akinari lovely sang in Murai's stable and relieving song.
Even among the male vocalists, his memorable and refreshing voice is distinct.

Mameshiba

This clear feeling is nice.
It really matches this combination with Murai.

When I saw this song genre, I thought about a person holding an entirely white rapier, but it's "phasing".
Well, what's phasing?

Ga~su~

The refreshing voice fits Seiya Murai's song well! It's healing~.

tokky

His singing voice is very pleasant, and I want to always listen to it.
While glancing at the animations being created behind me, huh, pop'n is finally including that kind of girl!? I couldn't hide my surprise.

Chihi

When Murai gave us an outline of the lyrics before he composed this song, all the designers said "wow~ what should we do///".
Due to their occupation, I think each of them created the animations in their mind, such as "a reunion after 10 years & blooming love...".
Even though the lyrical contents are deep, Murai and Akinari formed them together, and it's as refreshing as the morning sun shining through the trees during the Indian summer!
NAOTO is also in the center of this trendy route! That's a great~ straightforward approach!!
Even though my strange delusions were increasing from the lyrics, I'll be able to walk on this kind of refreshing road someday like NAOTO... so... I'd like to think.

shio

Akinari, congratulations~. Murai's positive synth beat lightly overlaps with a gentle and refreshing high voice. It's amazing.
I'm really jealous of everyone who has a naturally lovely voice!
And thank you for showing off your singing voice in pop'n!

Chihi also commented this, but the designers first saw the lyrics and a scene from a one-shot girls' manga raced through our minds for a moment.... we all looked away and blushed...///
It's too bright for me.. I hid my embarrassment and could only come up with stranger ideas as I felt everyone looking away from me... I couldn't really make animations for it, so eimy created a pleasant and refreshing story.

NAOTO is a boy who wears glasses and has a drawing case, which are often seen in Roppongi. I wonder if it's for architecture or design~. A seemingly smart man at work broke down and ran from his usual cool pace, and he became confused and blushed from love after all☆ That feels lovely. However, Murai is great with Sumidagawa and girls. I'm glad everyone made it together! Welcome to pop'n ~++*

PON

The combination of Seiya Murai and Akinari is the first duo decided by Murai's selection.
From this selection, the finished song maximizes Murai and Akinari's good qualities, which is really as expected.
Akinari's gentle singing voice is a falsetto, and furthermore, he has an increasing "soft and fluffy feeling" and is charming.
It appears this duo has a "mature leeway" around here.

While checking the game data, wac was impressed and murmured "Murai, you really write girly lyrics~".
It certainly has a similar story and background to a girls' manga, and there are many feminine aspects to it, such as the detailed image associated with the lyrics.
I think having a man sing this song in an answer song-style, further doubles its good qualities.

wac

My impression of Akinari during the first screening is that he's a type of male vocalist not seen in pop'n, who sings female vocal songs completely as his own.
My impression of Akinari during the second screening is that he's a fashionable man! There's an increase in glasses characters! He also has a mysterious demeanor! I think so.

All the male vocalists who advanced in the second screening were talented and distinct, and I was really troubled, but the decisive factor in choosing Akinari is that he's a type of male vocalist not seen in pop'n after all.
You can tell that Murai consciously created this song with Akinari's voice as the most delicious part.
I don't know if this is what Murai intended to do, so this is my extremely selfish opinion, but from the moment I heard the intro synth tone and chords, I remembered the songs back when Akinari probably first liked pop'n.
I don't know why, but the morning sunrise in the office when pop'n was made back then comes to mind, right?
This is the 20th installment along with Akinari's singing voice, and at the very end, this song moved me the most.

Akinari became someone who created and conveyed pop'n.
Personally, various things come to my mind that I want him to do and sing. I'm looking forward to his future.
