Song Connections / Remixes
- The GuitarFreaks & DrumMania and pop'n music series use a rock arrangement of MEGALOVANIA, instead of the original version of the song used in DanceDanceRevolution and SOUND VOLTEX.
Trivia
- MEGALOVANIA was added to DanceDanceRevolution A3 on May 19th, 2022.
- MEGALOVANIA originates from the video game UNDERTALE.
- Two early versions of the song appeared in the EarthBound Halloween Hack (a ROM hack of Earthbound for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System) and the web novel Homestuck, respectively.
- MEGALOVANIA is the first song in the DanceDanceRevolution series to include Shock Arrows outside of the CHALLENGE difficulty.
- Its Double CHALLENGE chart has the largest GROOVE RADAR of any DanceDanceRevolution chart with a total size of 776 (196 STREAM, 112 VOLTAGE, 245 AIR, 104 FREEZE, and 119 CHAOS).
- It also has the highest AIR rating of any chart, with 245, beating the previous record of 224 set by POSSESSION (20th Anniversary Mix)'s Double CHALLENGE chart from DanceDanceRevolution A20.
- With 266 Shock Arrows, it also has the highest number of Shock Arrows of any chart.
- Its CHALLENGE charts are the first charts rated Level 18 in the series to be available by default upon release.
- Its Double CHALLENGE chart has the largest GROOVE RADAR of any DanceDanceRevolution chart with a total size of 776 (196 STREAM, 112 VOLTAGE, 245 AIR, 104 FREEZE, and 119 CHAOS).
- MEGALOVANIA features gameplay footage from the Japanese localization of UNDERTALE in DanceDanceRevolution, which is full screen and eliminates any on-screen dancers.
- The same video was also later used in the GuitarFreaks & DrumMania series.
- MEGALOVANIA's Single CHALLENGE chart had a section where players had to jump and hold both arrows while holding a third arrow, creating a "hand". This was fixed on May 31st, 2022 by shortening the length of the Freeze Arrow.
- MEGALOVANIA also appears in TAITO's GROOVE COASTER, BANDAI NAMCO's 太鼓の達人, and SEGA's CHUNITHM.
- MEGALOVANIA was added to GITADORA HIGH-VOLTAGE on August 10th, 2022.
- Alongside the addition of MEGALOVANIA, the [*GITADORA ni UNDERTALE ga arawareta] (【*GITADORAに UNDERTALEが あらわれた】) event started on the same date and ended on October 10th, 2022, allowing the players to unlock UNDERTALE-themed customization items by obtaining 30 points. Each song played awarded one point, but playing LONG version songs and MEGALOVANIA awarded two points instead.
- MEGALOVANIA was added to SOUND VOLTEX EXCEED GEAR and SOUND VOLTEX EXCEED GEAR コナステ on September 15th, 2022.
- By moving the knobs during gameplay in the SOUND VOLTEX series, the heart in the background of MEGALOVANIA will move as well. This trait is shared with the other UNDERTALE songs in SOUND VOLTEX.
- The effector credits for MEGALOVANIA reference one of Sans' lines before his battle in UNDERTALE; "on days like these, kids like you should be burning in hell".
- MEGALOVANIA was added to pop'n music UniLab on December 22nd, 2022.
