Steppin' into the groove
When the world seems so lost in itself
Steppin' into the groove
and you feel that life is not so easy on you
Baby I don't care
Don't forget that you're not by yourself
No I don't care any more
For together we can make this world a better place
Baby I don't care
No I don't care any more
You love me, boy

Follow your dreams, follow your heart
* VJ ARMY was created under an unusual premise:
Follow your dreams, follow your heart
*#[[Tatsuya_Furukawa|good-cool]] wanted a song to showcase the IIDX team's four video editors (VJs) at the time (dubbed their "VJ Army").
Follow your dreams, follow your heart
*#Each of the four segments of the video were created by a different member of the VJ Army ([[shiro|shiro]] took drum'n'bass, [[HES|HES]] took techno, etc).
Follow your dreams, yes you can
*#Furthermore, each VJ was told what ''style'' of music that they were creating a video clip for, but were made to create their videos before the song was even produced.
Follow your dreams, follow your heart
*#Without looking at the videos at all, [[Tatsuya_Furukawa|good-cool]] simultaneously composed the music for VJ ARMY.
Follow your dreams, follow your heart
*#Finally, in the end, [[Tatsuya_Furukawa|good-cool]]'s music and the four VJs' video clips were stitched together and the end result is VJ ARMY. [[Tatsuya_Furukawa|good-cool]] has mentioned how he thought it turned out surprisingly well given the circumstances of its creation, and that the video clips were more or less "just what he imagined" when he wrote the song.

Follow your dreams!

When I decided to make a song for 6th style, there was something I just had to try - a collaboration with all the VJs. When I made the suggestion at a staff meeting, everyone was enthusiastic about it, and so we were able to realize this idea.
== Song Connections / Remixes ==
* The DanceDanceRevolution series uses a shorter version of Make A Difference.
* A live medley of [[Spica]], [[OVER THE CLOUDS]], and Make A Difference was played at the beatmania IIDX secret LIVE ~one night premium party~ on September 13th, 2003. This medley can be found on the ''BEMANIトップランカー決定戦 2006 Sound Tracks'', titled ''wacのライブ用トラック1。 ハウスっぽいやつ集めたの。''.

And with that, I began to write a song ... The images the VJs came up with had no preconceptions to them, it was very stimulating. I composed a song that divided itself into several genres, in order to allow a sort of recital contest among shiro, HES, GOLI, and VJ GYO.
* According to Jun Wakita, the original version of Make A Difference originally featured him doing the chorus of the song. This was later changed to sound closer to a song like [[Tamayura|たまゆら]].

** He also mentions that at one point Make A Difference would have featured acappella vocals. This was later ruled out due to the sheer difficulty of implementing them into a music game.
shiro was Techno, HES was Trance, GOLI had Drum'n'bass, and VJ GYO got 2Step. Again, I wanted to do something without seeing the movie, so I scattered sound effects everywhere that suited the theme of different parts coming together. Get it? The title of this song is a tribute to our beloved four-person "VJ army". This song becomes quite heated during the course of game play, as well, so I hope you all enjoy it.
* Prior to [[AC DDR WORLD|DanceDanceRevolution WORLD]], Make A Difference's music video is shown full screen in the DanceDanceRevolution series, eliminating any on-screen dancers.

** As of [[AC tricoro|beatmania IIDX 20 tricoro]], Make A Difference features its video from the DanceDanceRevolution series, slightly extended to match the beatmania IIDX audio.
== Video Production Notes ==
* Make A Difference being crossed over marks Jun Wakita's first appearance in the DanceDanceRevolution series.

* Make A Difference is an unlockable revival in [[AC EMPRESS|beatmania IIDX 16 EMPRESS]]. To unlock it, clear 1st Dan.
First part: shiro
** It received brand-new Single HYPER/ANOTHER charts upon its revival.

** As of January 7th, 2009, it is available by default.
The others seem to have drawn up their materials while listening to some sort of background music, but mine were all drawn during periods of long silence. good-cool, your music fit my vision perfectly. Thank you.
* Make A Difference received a Double ANOTHER chart in [[CS EMPRESS|beatmania IIDX 16 EMPRESS + PREMIUM BEST]]. This chart was carried over to the arcade releases in [[AC Resort Anthem|beatmania IIDX 18 Resort Anthem]].

** It also received a new BEGINNER chart in beatmania IIDX 16 EMPRESS + PREMIUM BEST.
Second part: HES
* Make A Difference is currently the only song sung by Noriko Fukushima in ''any'' BEMANI arcade series.
** It's only her original BEMANI song she did not write the lyrics for herself.
* Make A Difference is unlockable in [[CS INFINITAS|beatmania IIDX INFINITAS]] from December 4th, 2019, after purchasing its charts with [[CS INFINITAS/BIT unlocks|BITs]].

Since we were allowed to do whatever we want, I was able to finish without ever really worrying about what I was doing, but when it came time to put the four pieces together, everyone seemed to worry ... "Is this okay?" *g*
== Song Production Information ==
=== wac ===
The sound director [[Takayuki Ishikawa|TAKA]] told me "OK, make a gospel song next".
I'm wac, a former choir member. I'm still a choir member. Is it because I'm a choir guy?
When I say choir, I mean a boys choir at a boys school, so it's a world where 100 young boys yell "hoiya, hoiya, shuuririenen".
I wondered if it's similar to Tamayura. Rather, I said for it to be in that direction.
I said "No, acapella is next". Something's different. No, acapella is impossible to include in this game.

However, there was no need to worry. The completed version flows together as one piece. Just what I'd expect from good-cool! You're the man!
Firstly.
As it's often said, gospel means the Word of God.
I'm a man who sometimes believes in God and Buddha? I wonder if I'm qualified to speak about the Word of God.
However, TAKA told me "No, make a gospel song next".
"But God still won't descend".

To good-cool and the rest of the VJs, great work!
Therefore.
So, I made a five-note quintet singing "tralalalala", to which God will honorably descend in the end, so please do your best to not be taken away from this world.
Look, this is gospel! Or maybe it's pareidolia?
Actually, MARI's cheerful lyrics, the up-and-coming gospel group CoCoRo*Co, and Lala Moore's session that transcended time-space, we somehow reached a gospel-like joyphilia, maybe, probably, no way, I don't know.

<nowiki>*shwiiiish, clang!*</nowiki>
For those who know such differences, I dedicate Make a Difference.
This song isn't brought up as a topic in the first place, but when it's brought up, it's "tralalalala", so I created this for LIGHT7. Even now, I regret every night that I should've started creating this with NORMAL.
God won't descend, so to those who are confident in playing this song, please sometimes rejoice in the joy of life.

Third part: GOLI
== Video Production Information ==
=== VJ GYO ===
This is the first song with the "GOSPEL" genre included in the IIDX series, which feels unique.
When I went on a sightseeing trip in America a long time ago, I had the opportunity to listen to a gospel music performance in a church in Harlem during an optional sightseeing tour of New York City.
Regardless of music likes and dislikes, I remember feeling sincerely moved by all the deeply religious people singing in a way which integrated their daily rituals in everyday life.

I was really worried about this for a while. Who makes a movie without hearing the song? But when the song was finished and we could listen to it, everyone kept saying "Man, that's really cool!" How can he make a single work that way, out of all these different pieces? But when you see the result, that worry crumbles away, and a new, wondrous feeling is born from your gasps of awe. When I had sound put to my own scene, it felt ... like something altogether new. Like levelling up. I couldn't help but think, "The power of sound is really something," with all of my being. good-cool, thank you very much.
At that time, I didn't imagine it'd connect with music in IIDX, and conversely, even when I listen to this song, it doesn't connect with my image of that time.

Fourth part: VJ GYO
However, I can see family and friends playing together, lovers talking to each other, and people walking their dogs at the local park... I was inspired seeing the locals having fun!
I remember those happy and cheerful feelings of when I was among warm, gentle, and bright people who cheerfully called out to me!
As expected of this song!

This time, I was in charge of the denoument. (If your gauge dropped 'cause you were watching the girl in the movie ... sorry.)

good-cool was always confident as he played mediator to my worries. And so, we were selected (or was it volunteered?) to fight the battle for the Beatmania IIDX specialty "What the hell's this?" style of movie making.

A lot of the staff were thinking the same thing. Even dj TAKA, who is familiar with good-cool's ability, would say things like, "I think this could make three really good songs, but ... " With that comment, our work was cut out for us. According to the rumors on the grapevine, it seems even good-cool was bewildered by this unorthodox approach at first. Still, in the end, I have to say it turned out really well. I think I could have made a movie better suited to lots of sound effects if I'd tried, though. *g*

VJ GYO

This is the first song with the "GOSPEL" genre included in the IIDX series, which feels unique.
When I went on a sightseeing trip in America a long time ago, I had the opportunity to listen to a gospel music performance in a church in Harlem during an optional sightseeing tour of New York City.
Regardless of music likes and dislikes, I remember feeling sincerely moved by all the deeply religious people singing in a way which integrated their daily rituals in everyday life.
