Sound directors are those in charge of deciding what music to put in each pop'n game. Sound directors try to strike a delicate balance between new, interesting musical styles, and "tried and true" styles that each artist might be more used to. Currently pop'n music has four sound directors; Seiya Murai, Tomosuke Funaki, Osamu Migitera, and Jun Wakita.
