In the early '90s (I think?), cool club remixes of jazz pianist Herbie Hancock's material were in fashion; this song was inspired by them.
The song was also brought over to 3rdMIX, pioneering the "jazz" line of songs that later entered beatmania's sound.

Somewhere, there was a boy named Jazz-kun.
Jazz-kun admired Miles Davis and John Coltrane. He started playing the trumpet.
Somewhere else, there was a boy named Rock-kun.
Rock-kun idolized Mick Jagger and Rod Stewart.
They formed a band, and there he started singing and playing the guitar.
Jazz-kun was studious. "What is jazz? What is sound...?" He was what we would call a music nerd.
Rock-kun was popular. Beautiful blonde E-cup girls waited on him as he emitted tons of pheromones. He was what we know as visual kei.
Jazz-kun was fed up with Rock-kun's popularity and carefree attitude.
Rock-kun's personality didn't mesh with Jazz-kun's "music theory honors student" demeanor and his effluent scales.
Before long, Jazz-kun retreated within himself and became masturbatory.
"Only those who understand would get it..." he muttered.
Rock-kun rode the bubble! Back then, he even became "Ika King"...
... Ten years passed.
One day, a boy named DJ-kun appeared. DJ-kun was an excitable fellow.
He put together beautiful sounds with each other and started being in the limelight at the club. DJ-kun got with the times!
But DJ-kun couldn't create sounds on his own... that's when he spotted Jazz-kun.
In the span of a day, he became fascinated with the sounds he couldn't create and teamed up with Jazz-kun.
... Rock-kun was the grasshopper.
Paying the bubble's tab, he can only get work now as a "traditional entertainer" around the country...
Jazz-kun's revenge has begun. "♪FUNKY JAZZ GROOVE♪"
