Backstory

YUNI is a rich girl raised with proper manners, but what she really loves is junk food, and she hates living in her big mansion. Every now and then she gives her bodyguard the skip and sneaks out of the mansion to get a bite to eat or go hang out with EMI. Since she no longer has to wear a uniform after school, she is into punk-style outfits and are mostly from famous designers. Her current outfit was custom made for her, and uses a character that she saw while over at EMI's house.

Being unable to live with the boredom at home, she fell in love with the Japanese schoolgirl outfit look she saw on television. She immediately wanted to wear one and made her own, but it ended up being different from the normal style.

"The outfit makes a lot of noise when I dance, I'm still not quite satisfied with the look..."

Trivia

• Like EMI, her name comes from a company. YUNI's full name is a pun on Universal Studios.
  • Coincidentally, the same year as her debut in DanceDanceRevolution 4thMIX, KONAMI had signed on to a deal with Universal Studios to publish and distribute games based on their intellectual properties (such as Woody Woodpecker, The Mummy movie, and the live-action How the Grinch Stole Christmas movie that came out on November 2000). Her name might be a reference to this.
• Her special skill is hacking.
• TRAN appears in YUNI's outfits in DanceDanceRevolution SuperNOVA2 and DanceDanceRevolution X2.
• Her bodyguard is AKIRA.
• Part of the PLAYER'S BEST duo in DanceDanceRevolution 4thMIX, along with AKIRA.
• YUNI makes a cameo briefly in Wreck-It Ralph (also known as Sugar Rush in Japan), near the beginning of the film. She tells everyone about the arcade closing.
