BEMANI Timeline
In late 1997, KONAMI launched beatmania, the very first BEMANI arcade game. While not the first rhythm game, its colorful graphics, variety of music, and then high challenge captivated players, and launched a music game multimedia franchise that has resulted in over a dozen different series, continuing to thrive in Japan to this day nearly 25 years later.
This timeline will cover the following BEMANI-related events by year:
- Release dates of arcade and home BEMANI games.
- Release dates of game soundtracks.
- Release dates of any BEMANI game events.
- Release dates of various KONAMI-published soundtracks.
- Various things that happen to in-house staff members (i.e. Akira Yamaoka's quitting KONAMI in 2009.)
It will not cover:
- Releases of albums not directly from KONAMI. (There are far too many of these to cover.)
- Commission artists, unless they are strongly tied to KONAMI (for example, kors k and Ryu*).
- Karaoke Revolution, as the Japanese releases don't consider it a BEMANI franchise.
With that said, click on a year to begin looking up history.
