His style is reminiscent of early techno as well as being one of the precursors of hardcore techno in beatmania IIDX, being one of the first composers to bring that style into the game. Outside of BEMANI, he has an extensive career composing for NAMCO, ARIKA, SEGA and SNK. He also composed music for No game No life anime series.
Trivia
- Shinji owns SuperSweep Records, label where he produces commissioned game music.
- He has several side projects with fellow composers Ayako Saso and Nobuyoshi Sano. One of them is Oriental Magnetic Yellow, a parody of Yellow Magic Orchestra, a well known Japanese electronic band formed by famous composer Ryuichi Sakamoto.
- Incidentally, Ryuichi composed a song for his side project Manikyua-Dan.
