1997

1997 was the start of BEMANI, though at the time the "BEMANI" name did not exist. Rather, the games were credited to the KONAMI branch that worked on them. In the case of the first beatmania, that was KONAMI GMD R&D 14 (Game Machine Division Research & Development 14). The original music staff consisted of three composers: Hiroshi Takeyasu, Reo Nagumo, and Tomomi Ohta, the first female musician in BEMANI. The first beatmania had only seven different songs and two charts for each song: one for Single, and one for Double.
