Release Information
- Release date: January 31st, 2002
General Information / Changes
- First beatmania game that allows to play with separate lanes for white and black keys, much like the beatmania IIDX series.
- Introduces a new note type, 1-Turn Scratches. These notes appear as a long green scratch note. To get the best score possible, you must turn the turntable exactly once by the time the note ends.
- However, a similar variant of the note, Backspin Scratch, appears in beatmania IIDX 17 SIRIUS. It is separately counted as two notes, with the end of the note requiring to spin on the other direction.
- MANIAC difficulty is named ANOTHER once again.
- Single and Double charts are finally re-rated individually, instead of the same difficulty levels like in earlier games.
- Only beatmania game to feature Hiroshi Takeyasu as part of the game staff.
- New songs are colored blue on the song wheel.
- Masayuki Takahashi makes his BEMANI debut.
- 7thMIX changes the name of the IIDX DOUBLE modifier from CORE REMIX and 6thMIX (which was previously named BM-II DOUBLE in completeMIX 2) to CENTER DOUBLE.
- The modifier moves the 1P- and 2P-side play fields to the center of the screen when playing Double (to mimic the layout of Double Play in beatmania IIDX).
- The name CENTER DOUBLE would carry over to the last game in the original beatmania series, beatmania THE FINAL.
- Several songs have a scroll speed modifier applied by default when playing certain charts.
- When using a HI-SPEED option on such a chart, that HI-SPEED's modifier multiplies with that chart's default scroll speed modifier.
