The Challenge Mode is more streamlined, and is now very similar to the one used in all the games since Pop'n Music 6 to this day.
First game in the series that allows you to play Challenge Mode on 5-Line.
First game to have Hi-Speed 3 and 4.
First non-standalone Pop'n Music game to include Animelo songs.
First game in the series where every new song has a 9-Line AND Hyper notechart. Prior to this game, some new songs still only had 9-Line difficulty, even though Hyper charts were introduced in Pop'n Music 3, and EX charts were introdcued in Pop'n Music 5.
First game in the series to include the singing of ALPHA, who would sing many, many songs with Osamu Migitera (Des-ROW) over the years.
