General Information
- Despite all other BEMANI games aside from SOUND VOLTEX II -infinite infection- having the numbering scheme removed as of 2012, beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA thus marks the only BEMANI game to continue doing so.
- SPADA is also the first time a IIDX title is written entirely in capital letters since beatmania IIDX 17 SIRIUS.
- It is also the second post-IIDX RED title to have the same first letter as an older title (SIRIUS), with the first pair being DistorteD and DJ TROOPERS.
- SPADA is the first game since Resort Anthem where its first location test is not held on the month of April consecutively. It is also the first game to have its location test for more than a year after the last one (tricoro on April 2012), instead of the usual 10-12 month interval between games after 8th style.
- New category introduced, named "MY FAVORITE". You can add songs to this category by pressing the VEFX button during the result screen of the song you have played.
- The 1 button on the numeric keypad now changes difficulties, other than the VEFX one.
- The 2 button on the numeric keypad opens the song sorting window. Cannot be done with the black buttons anymore.
- By pressing the 3 button on the numeric keypad, you can freely change between Single and Double play on the music select screen.
- The gameplay UI now shows the difficulty level of the song.
