2018

KONAMI celebrated the 20th anniversaries of DanceDanceRevolution and pop'n music in September with little events and new songs, even making anniversary pages for both games. On September 28th, KONAMI also started location testing a new BEMANI game, Rizminance.

In addition, KONAMI announced a new spin-off project of HinaBitter♪, titled BandMeshi♪ (バンめし♪).

Unfortunately, 2018 saw KONAMI continuing their practices at the end of 2017 well into 2018 as well. Including:

  • The 10th anniversary event of jubeat in jubeat clan, clan kakumichi original characters & songs (clan各街オリジナルキャラクター&楽曲), exclusively involved commission artists, and all of the jackets for the event were commissioned as well.
    • The commissioned jacket trend has continued into jubeat festo.
  • The ENCORE/PREMIUM ENCORE STAGE songs in GITADORA EXCHAIN don't have unique videos, the first ones that don't since the first two ENCORE STAGE songs in GITADORA.
  • pop'n music peace's official website doesn't have a page for music and characters, the first one in the arcade series' history.
  • On October 1st, 2018, KONAMI removed virtually all arcade BEMANI pages from their website. They now link to their Japanese game page instead. The following game sites were removed (not including old BEMANI pages previously removed):
  • In the place of the above removed pages, KONAMI has instead placed little one-page websites for their older BEMANI games instead with very basic information and a few screenshots, which can be viewed here. All references to any in-house BEMANI staff have been removed from these little pages.
    • KONAMI later announced that the website removals were due to a restructure of their gaming portal websites, as noted on their twitter here. However, none of the removed BEMANI game pages have yet to be restored.

June

  • June 26th: Offline kits for MÚSECA 1+1/2 were released, as well as conversion kits to change MÚSECA to Bishi Bashi CHANNEL (ビシバシCHANNEL) are available from this date as well.

July

  • July 24th, 2018: SOUND VOLTEX IV HEAVENLY HAVEN gets heavily censored in the South Korean version of the game. Due to interference from South Korea's video games board, Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC), all songs added after November 16th, 2017 were temporarily removed from the game (except for BLASTER GATE charts for older songs).
    • Song updates were paused as well until August 23rd, 2018, when all missing songs were restored. However, the censorship of the jackets remained.
      • On August 2nd, 2018, a similar censorship happened with DanceDanceRevolution A, with EXTRA SAVIOR song ALGORITHM temporarily absent from the Korean release of the game.
      • The BEMANI SUMMER GREETINGS event, which started on August 10th, cannot be accessed in the Korean version of GITADORA Matixx, unfortunately suggesting the censorship issues with GRAC have not yet been fully resolved.
  • July 31st:
    • eAMUSEMENT support for MÚSECA 1+1/2 ended, marking the end of the series.
    • Patent no. 2922509, which mainly covered elements of the original beatmania series such as keysounded notes and vertical note scrolling, reaches the end of its term.
