BONUS EDIT Mode

• To access BONUS EDIT mode, use the DISC CHANGE option on the main menu to swap between the following discs, in the order listed below:

1. beatmania CS
2. APPEND 3rdMIX (not mini) or APPEND GOTTAMIX
3. APPEND ClubMIX

• To indicate that BONUS EDIT is enabled, the title screen will show the words Bonus Edit.
• Even after BONUS EDIT is enabled, you can still use the DISC CHANGE option to freely swap between beatmania CS and any other APPEND DISC.
  • However, BONUS EDIT will remain enabled for the following games. To swap to the regular game, you must reset the console and then swap to that APPEND DISC from a KEY DISC.
    • APPEND 4thMIX
    • APPEND 5thMIX
    • APPEND GOTTAMIX 2
    • APPEND ClubMIX
• Note that APPEND YebisuMIX, APPEND 3rdMIX (mini), and all BONUS EDIT mode games use the same memory card file as beatmania CS.
  • Only one of the aforementioned games can share that file.
  • To save scores and song unlocks for each game, you will need to manage a separate save file for each game on separate memory cards.
  • In addition, none of the BONUS EDIT games have an AUTO LOAD feature, so to restore scores and songs unlocks, you will need to manually load your save file from the OPTIONS menu.

Unlock Information

TOKIO

• To play TOKIO in NORMAL and MANIAC modes, hold the SELECT button and choose TOKYO EUROPEAN ESPRESSO (as if it is an ANOTHER chart) on the song selection screen.
  • TOKIO's NORMAL chart will be TOKYO EUROPEAN ESPRESSO's "ANOTHER" chart in NORMAL mode and TOKIO's MANIAC chart will be TOKYO EUROPEAN ESPRESSO's "ANOTHER" chart in MANIAC mode.

Unlock BONUS EDIT Songs in MANIAC Mode

• Every time NORMAL, MANIAC, or EXPERT mode is cleared, a song is unlocked for play in MANIAC mode in the following order:
  • LOVE SO GROOVY

  • FREAKOUT

Hidden Commands

Activate Play Mode or Modifier for Main Game

The information in this section pertains to beatmania CS, beatmania APPEND 3rdMIX (mini), APPEND GOTTAMIX, and all games with a BONUS EDIT mode (4th/5th/GOTTA2/Club) when BONUS EDIT mode is active.

• To activate a play mode or modifier for the main game, you must do so from the PRESS START BUTTON screen and then choose GAME START after you activate it.
  • Unless otherwise noted, actions for activating a play mode or modifier must be performed on only the P1 controller or P2 controller, and will not work if performed on the opposite controller.
    • However, after you activate a play mode or modifier, you can choose GAME START with either controller.
  • When you activate a play mode or modifier, a confirmation sound will play.
    • The active play mode or modifier will be deactivated if you go back to the PRESS START BUTTON screen, or if you choose anything other than GAME START.
  • After you choose GAME START, the activated play mode or modifier will be applied to all sides that play the game.
    • Note that only DOUBLE PLAY or HIDDEN PLAY can be active; it is not possible for both DOUBLE PLAY and HIDDEN PLAY to be active at the same time.

Play Modes

• DOUBLE PLAY
  • "1-Credit": On the P1 controller, while holding down all three white keys (or Left, Square, and X on a standard PlayStation controller), press the START button, then quickly release the white keys and hold down all two black keys (L1 and R1).
    • In "1-Credit" DOUBLE PLAY, you play a mode that is similar to FREE mode in certain AC beatmania games. You have two guaranteed stages and can pick any song that is listed.
      • Unlike in certain AC beatmania games however, you do not need to separately enter unlock codes for any songs.
  • "2-Credit": On the P2 controller, while holding down all three white keys (or Left, Square, and X on a standard PlayStation controller), press the START button, then quickly release the white keys and hold down all two black keys (L1 and R1).
    • Unlike "1-Credit" DOUBLE PLAY, you can play any normally accessible mode, with all of the restrictions inherent to it.

Modifiers

• HIDDEN PLAY
  • On the P1 controller, while holding down all two black keys (or L1 and R1 on a standard PlayStation controller), press the START button (this action can be performed on either P1 or P2), then release the black keys and hold down the left and right white keys (Left and X).
